    Coach retention at SU

SU lost a handful of great coaches in the past few years and replaced them with some college grad or some average coaches, what is your take on that? I am thinking about switch my DD to SU for easier commute.. no need to name call or anything, just want to hear opinions. Thanks!

They have almost no female coaches on the girls ECNL and premier teams. That should give you pause.

Playing with school friends and commute should be on near the top of any list.

Su have 2 female ecnl coaches and a full time female trainer for the teams.
            Crossfire have 2.
            Wpfc have 1.
            Efc have zero.
            Pac have 3.

I think Pac has almost 10 female coaches, many long term including 2 former pro players.

EFC hired about 7 new p/t coaches. Not sure who left.

              No conclusions drawn.

Choose what works best for YOUR kid.

My DD's happiness and enjoying soccer is my number one goal.

Completely wrong. They brought on 4 new coaches including Womens Samoan National Team player Alma Mana’o.

                Jesus.

Seattle United has been declining for awhile. Losing players to XF and PAC like crazy. I wouldn’t send my DD/DS there.

Significant churn of coaches at PacNW:

7 New coaches + 4 coaches that are getting their first team's:
                    Scott Newman
                    Miguel Gonzalez
                    Zach Gallimore
                    Isaac Gettis
                    Fernando Villalba
                    Aaron Howe
                    Orlando Ramirez

First time with their own team:
                    Molly Merino
                    Jacquelyn Anderson
                    Ben Clayton
                    Kaitlyn Brantzeg

How do they have spots for 11 new coaches?

Clubs are consolidating around the State. Not good for the recreational player. Higher fees and many more kids giving up the sport.

Leaving aside coach and training quality: Not sure which level/team your child is playing, but I found SU to be logistically challenging, especially when kids were younger. Because they don't have a home field for training, practices were all over the place and sometimes locations were changed a few hours before practice, which really screws things up if you are planning around other kids activities or say, your job that pays the fees. I would find out if that situation has improved from current parents. With XF, PAC or Eastside you have a more training schedule and you're generally going to the same location at the same time, which makes it easier to plan. If you only have one kid and a flex schedule personally, it might be ok from a logistical point of view

SU definitely has more coach turnover than any of the major clubs

Does SU really have no control over the field choices? Or do they not realize how big of a deal it is? I am surprised that this is the number 1 complaint I heard about the club, yet it still is a problem that exists. It has driven away lots of players, even very high level players.
