Here is the announcement~
We are also very proud to announce the inclusion of our U16-U19 Red teams into the ECNL Regional League! In addition to their RCL schedule, this will offer additional exposure to the ECNL structure. In their recent announcement, the ECNL is expanding to have more teams in the National programming. This is great news for us! EFC

interesting, no announcement from crossfire yet beyond the names on the coaching slate, and they seem to distinguish between ECNL R and RCL, with A teams now listed as ECNL R and B teams as RCL -1.

If 5 or more of the main clubs add ECNL-R, doesn't that decimate the remaining former B team league? Who is left to play, Valor, Sound FC, maybe Bellingham and Federal Way teams? Short sighted. What a way to toss a grenade into the disjointed leagues.

OP here. I do wonder if this is a way for the larger clubs to distance themselves from RCL. It's only a matter of time before ECNLR starts adding lower age groups. Guarantee all the current ECNL clubs will include ECNLR

When does SU or Crossfire announce MLS Next? Crossfire should be in the discussion based on Boys ECNL, but Bernie probably has too much pride.

community college drop education.
This is about business and numbers. Clubs are going to feel the baby bust from the 2008
great recession, covid-19 economic effects, and the high costs of club soccer not being
"worth it" anymore.
This is all about consolidation and keeping kids in house. Nation wide.
So this is how it is going to play out with all of the dilution of teams and leagues.
There is no collective memory of when there were only two ECNL teams in the state.
ECNL - 3-4 A team level players. The rest solid B team.
ECNL-R - Lower B team. Solid C team.
RCL - Lower C. The rest
The college coaches are well aware of the money grab and dilution of the leagues.
Ain't foolin' nobody, son. So, parents who are on the college recruitment track, you
need to develop your kids beyond what club can offer. There is no other way.

For SU they would play against whom exactly? Let's say for their U-19's, fill me in.

SU- Do they want to partner with Sounders Academy or compete? Are they tired of getting thrashed by xfire?

The DA was the "right" structure, the Sounders and others couldn't take getting beat by non-MLS clubs so they frankly killed it. It will take years to get close to how good the DA was.

Is there a graph or something to visually show the relationship and flow of RCL, ECNL, Academies, etc. This is quite confusing, especially for a non soccer parent from outside the region.
