    Mask recommendations for kids

I'm starting a new thread about masks-- Let's share some options on the best masks for kids playing soccer.

My kid wears a disposible surgical mask on top of a face bracket, which keeps the mask from sucking in every time he inhales. But the downside is it rests on his chin and moves every he talks and it's a little strange. here's a link to the bracket:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Any recommendations? What works? What doesn't work?

(and if you respond, "none" then go troll somewhere else, please.)

My daughter prefers the simple disposable surgical mask over the fancy under armour sports masks. Go figure. Has gotten used to it and has had no problems. Swaps out the mask at halftime.

we tried the bracket under the mask and it drove my kids crazy. They ended up liking the under armour ones the best.

My guess is we'll need something lighter once the weather warms up.

Wish I could find a flexible soft silicone bracket. Ones I ordered online which were advertised as silicone are just hard plastic, and a little to small for teen to adult sized faces.

I just bought this one for myself. It is soft silicone, very flexible, and its bigger than the others. Only issue in cold weather is the moisture from your breath condenses on it and it gets wet. But otherwise I like it. Good luck. My kids like the bracket as well as the underarmour masks. Check the underarmour outlet stores, they have been buy 1 get 1 free. $30 for 2.

My daughter likes the buff kind from Costco. Its a big too loose but if she ties a low ponytail it fits.

My son (and I) like the ones from shopspacemask.com Its got a seam in the middle as well as a nose piece. Its the only one I've found that is breathable. The downside is that its annoyingly expensive but better than buying a mask and never using it.

On another note is mask wearing being enforced at your games? At our game this weekend, our team and parents wore masks but the other team had about 1/2 their players with masks around their necks. The kids intentionally pulled them down after game start and didn't bother pulling them up for most of the game. The refs did nothing.

This is disappointing to hear about the referees doing nothing. Very frustrating to witness.

That aside my two daughters have been playing games and using for their training sessions with the masks from this Etsy website. My girls find them very breathable and the ear loops super soft. My wife and I also use the masks from this Etsy shop exclusively. So much better than all the cheap alternatives out there.

Your coach needs to address it and a complaint should be filed with the league and the offending club. Unacceptable, if the parks depts see the rules not being followed they will stop renting fields and that will shut everything down.

I also saw two parents of one kid on the sidelines, wasn't sure who to tell. Any ideas?

Our team had a parent that couldn't be there and gave their spot to someone else so both parents could watch. I figure as long as their team doesn't bring more than the max limit of people allowed I don't care how they allot the spots.

Typical parent! Always the referees fault your kids team loses as well. It’s not referees job to enforce the mask rule. It’s the coaches and that club. If you are that disappointed file a complaint and put your name on the record.

Ref are told by Washington Referee Association NOT act as covid police.

The mask is treated as equipment (for example, shin guard). If the shin guard has problem during game, the player are supposed to fix it when the game paused (or during play). Same as mask.

The coach and club should take care of covid rules.

That said, if ref do not feel comfortable continue ref the game, he/she can stop the game and leave.
