Actually ECNL canceled with such little notice (on the morning of the event) that there were more than a few ECNL players/families already in Houston.

If it hadn’t been cancelled, Ecnl teams would’ve gone and been in the same boat as the GA teams. Maybe there will be players who get committed based on the two games. Bet those players think it was worth it.

What I don't feel bad about is if the coach or club leadership gets a ton of grief for making the stupid decision to still go when it was known in advance what the weather would be like. They are the ones who are supposed to know better and be a better steward of team funds. It's almost as if they don't have to pay anything and are traveling on someone else's dime....oh wait!

It'll be a shame if they have players who can't afford to attend any post-season efforts or additional showcases because their resources are tapped out for these 2 games.

To be clear - attending this showcase was NOT in the best interests of these players and coaches and administration should know better. And they can't say that no one could have predicted this...ECNL did - and cancelled.
Are you serious? Are you always the victim? Between COVID and the weather no one was required to go. We went, enjoyed ourselves and are back. Was it a pain, sure, but nothing is perfect. Get a life and stop looking for someone to blame. No one was required to attend.

You sound nice. And rich, apparently, since you don't care how this situation impacts families with less money. If you're so satisfied with your choice to attend, why are you lashing out at people with a different opinion? You should be basking in the afterglow of all that enjoyment, Karen.

Not the original poster, but ... they’re the Karen? Pot, meet kettle.

Wrong. Cancelled Thursday morning. Event started Saturday.

So anyone concerned about folks who might be struggling right now is a "victim." Got it.

There's nothing wrong with you choosing to go to TX for your kid to participate in a tournament. If you have the time and money and COVID doesn't worry you, go for it. It's demeaning the choices and circumstances of others that's gross. This board is full of insecure parents who need to justify the choices they make by attacking other clubs, leagues, and sometimes even players. It's bizarre.

                  bullsh:t

You were complaining that it was someone’s fault. trying to blame someone for covid and cold weather:

Stop blaming someone else. The coach isnt suppose to “know better”. You, the parent, are responsible for your choices.

I wasn't the OP and our team didn't consider going to TX. I just don't understand why you feel the need to call people victims who disagree with you. Yes, people are responsible for their own choices, but in every organization, some folks have leadership roles and are accountable for their decisions. Coaches will be critiqued by parents - it comes with the job. You seem to have an extreme amount of anger on this issue.

Spokane Surf had a couple teams in Utah this weekend according to their Facebook. Hope they got better weather than everyone got in Texas.

Stop looking for someone else to blame. If you were a parent that CHOSE to take your kid to Texas, be accountable for that. No one forced you.

We went and made the best of it.

                        You said it best:

“people are responsible for their own choices“
