As hard as it is to say our youth is more important than our elderly in the long run for our countries future.

Our youth are more important than our elderly? smdh one of those elderly is my father - who during WWII had to sacrifice through rationing (educate yourself on what that meant for individuals) and yet, you aren't willing to skip a few soccer games? holy **** is this country headed down a bad path.

Here's a hint---your little johnny or susie will be just fine if you buck up and frickin' parent. Let them know they can still exercise, work on their technical skills, improve their tactical knowledge. Every year people miss significant time with injury. They buck up, accept the challenge, heal, put the work in, and come back stronger than ever. This will only define your child if you let it.

        “Buck up and frickin parent.”

Truly spoken like someone who isn’t currently working three jobs because Jay Inslee is killing business, sports, and education.

heart disease is not contagious. Plenty of folks are working hard to prevent that disease but if someone with heart disease sits next to me at Chipolte, I'm not going to catch an airborne heart attack

The thing about all of this is that each of us doesn't have to be brilliant or smart. All we had to do -- as individuals and as a community -- was be JUST smart enough to understand that people who have literally spent their entire adult lives working to understand, prevent and respond to this exact scenario, MIGHT be worth listening to... That is the extent of critical thinking that was required to prevent hundreds of thousands of deaths. We couldn't even do that.

The biggest takeaway from 2020 is that a substantial portion of this country is breathtakingly selfish -- it is demonstrated on this board on a near-daily basis. Not just regular, little kid, "I don't wanna share" selfish. But full on, all the way down, apocalyptic, "screw you, I don't care if other people literally die as long as I am not inconvenienced" selfish.

You know you have a solid argument when you are talking to yourself multiple posts in a row.

Political platitudes that have no basis in reality. Why don't you back that up with actual facts and data. You know - like how unemployment rates in Washington are similar to those in Texas, Florida, and Georgia. Jay Inslee killing their business too? That kind of stuff. We get it - you're conservative. I am too for certain things. But, Inslee hasn't killed anything in this state. Our economy is pretty similar to that of those other states but we've lost significantly fewer of our residents - especially true when you take into consideration that many of our deaths occurred in the first 2 months of this pandemic. In the next 4 we've lost half as many. Go to those other states and see their deltas and the associated periods. of course, none of that matters if we don't value our people and put lives behind sport.

I’m with you but would add that the economic impact & recovery will also be better and easier if the virus is kept under control. The issues are all intertwined. That said, despite thinking it’s for the best, I too am weary and wish the kids could get back to sports. However, the virus isn’t taking a break and is, in fact, taking advantage of our lack of precautions in other states. Even hard core republican governor in Utah is begging people to use precautions as their hospitals are being overrun. Idaho sending patients to Oregon because they’re full up too. This virus simply loves that we want to pretend it isn’t here, killing about a thousand Americans every day.

If I were Washington and Oregon hospitals and Idaho and Utah came calling? I'd tell them to pound sand. They have an obligation to ensure they have availability for our citizens. That's what happens when you don't have a clear national approach to something like this - it becomes every state for themselves.

I'm not sure why these people think it's a constitutional right to not wear a mask. It's also a constitutional requirement for federal government to step in and intervene on the behalf of the rest of the citizens. Once it's become clear and obvious that the people are not making appropriate decisions or taking appropriate precautions then government must step in - for the general welfare. Those speaking about constitutional rights should understand that this is the fundamental purpose of the constitution - hence its inclusion in the preamble.

But yes, I'm tired of it as well and am looking forward to the vaccine. I see it being the new normal. I get my flu shot in October and my Covid shot in March.

Greek system doing its part to keep kids from playing sports. At this point, maybe they should just force all these kids to get it, isolate them all together for the next month. They obviously aren't motivated to change their behavior and sounds like these kids don't get sick, so why not just go for targeted herd immunity of the greek system? One big greek covid party.

They should stay out of Pierce County, too, where the 14-day rate spiked to 156.1/100k with today's numbers.

Is there anything worse than "Greek Life?" I'm not sure why colleges and universities even allow it to exist still.
