agree it doesn't seem to work with the different hs soccer seasons. but I doubt they'll be able to find another WA or OR team whose membership is willing or able to accommodate the high cost of travel for this league.

It sounds like Reign teams will have significant turnover so I don’t think anyone knows. The travel for this league looks ridiculous. If they want to make this work, they need at least 2 more WA teams and probably Oregon. Still don’t think this model works for the girls.

The ECNL Boys Map looks very rational. I think if ECNL replicated this one the girls side, GAL wouldn’t ever play a single game.

Can we all just agree that GAL is incredible stupid, but right now there are some good clubs in this country with no alternative? Not necessarily a direct reflection on Reign or anyone else; it sucks, but it is the way it is for a while.

The alternative for both Reign, with all the players they apparently lost, and ISC is the NPL. Gunners teams finished U15 and above finished 4th, 5th, and 5th in WNPL1. Their U18/19 A team played Classic. Why again do parents have to put players on an airplane for a league game? Same question for the Reign 07s since GAL apparently starts at U14. 07s were second to last in WNPL1. Even before they lost their players the Reign U15+ teams were middle of the pack in their DA conferences.

Is there any chance ECNL and GAL will merge someday and have tiered leagues? (My daughter is younger so not fully up to date on how ECNL works.)

more likely that GAL continues to lose its better teams to ECNL and then folds. ECNL has regional leagues which are basically a second tier.

Believe me when I say this, in 5 years, everything will be so different. The soccer landscape changes every year. I was only like 6 or 7 years ago that Premier and Select started at U13 and up. Money got involved and now we have Premier U4 teams with private trainings on the side.

SF Elite and West Coach join this new GA league. One more NorCal trip. You just cant make this stuff up.

If I was NorCal, I would boot the Washington teams out already.

In NorCal ECNL>NPL>GAL
In Wash ECNL>RCL>GAL>PSPL

Not only is the travel hideous, the states have a different High School Season.

I assume the clubs don’t want to (why would they?) but GAL needs to add PNW teams to split the division. Add another Seattle, 2 Oregon teams, something in Central Washington, and Spokane. I hope Reign and Gunners parents know what they have gotten themselves into. There’s no way the travel in this league can be justified for the level of competition.
