UW is one of the best public research universities on the west coast. It is located in a beautiful city with a pipeline to some of the best fortune 500 companies. Why hasn't the wsoc program been more successful in terms of recruiting compared to WSU?

The Huskies do great at recruiting. Look at all the new Huskies called into the u20 camp.

The problem is player evaluation is so subjective and is often done by which girls showed promise very early. Once a girl is selected as a top player in the PNW in 8th/9th grade, that carries them through no matter if others catch up and even pass. UW is clearly the better college so maybe they get first dibs of players that might not be the very best anymore.

UW is also a tougher school to attend. UC Berkeley has it even worse. The best of the smart players go to Stanford, UCLA, USC. UC Berkeley is one of the top schools in the entire nation and they can’t get past the first round.

Not sure. Maybe because the players who know and care that UW is a much better academic school, actually put academics before soccer. The ones going to WSU over UW don’t care about academics and put soccer first. There are many fewer top soccer players than there are top soccer players who are also very smart. That group puts other schools like Stanford, UCLA, USC, and their counterparts across the nation before UW, so maybe UW is left with not as many very top girls.

UW is a safety school for many local kids. Only reason I would send my kid to UW is direct entry into cs, eng, or busines. Pipeline if you have a cs or eng degree and preferably a ms degree. Sociology or communications? Sure, Starbucks is hiring baristas.

Much much higher ranked than WSU, in any case.

uw is ranked #62 nationally in overall academics. it's a safety school for some and a stretch school for others. wsu is #165 so yes they have a much larger pool of athletes to recruit from
