In Pool 1, Southlake Select B07 Red finished 4th out of 4. Southlake beat Seattle United B07 Tango (3rd team; competed in RCL Division 2), 2-1. They also lost to PacNW B07 Maroon (2nd team; competed in RCL Division 1), 2-0...which kind of proves the point someone else made, about the outcome of a recent "friendly" being less than definitive. A Canadian team won Pool 1.
In Pool 2, Issaquah Gunners B07 A finished 3rd out of 4, beating WPFC B07 Black (2nd team; RCL Division 2), 4-1. They also drew with Crossfire B07 B (3rd team; RCL Division 1), 2-2. A better performance, but hardly "totally dominant." A Canadian team won Pool 2.
In Pool 3, LTFC and Seattle Celtic B07 Green finished 1st/2nd, with Celtic claiming the wild card spot in the semifinals. WPFC B08 Black (WP's top U11 team, playing up) finished 3rd, losing to LTFC, 2-0, and drawing with Celtic, 2-2. PacNW B07 Blue (3rd team; RCL Division 2) finished 4th, losing 5-0 to LTFC and 7-3 to Celtic.
The 2 Canadian teams won their semifinals.
So...PSPL "totally dominanted" the Winter Classic Boys 07s?!
Sure.
But you can only reach that conclusion if you disregard what actually happened.
(In case anyone is wondering, in the Boys 2007 Premier 2 Division, the 3 PSPL teams finished 2nd, 2nd and 4th in their respective Pools. Kent United lost their semifinal against BlackHills B07 Black (RCL Division 3), 1-0.
There are plenty of valid criticisms of the pay-to-play model here in the States.
This was not one of them.
