    Stay at one club?

If my kid stays with one club for their entire youth, is that good or bad? Is there value in playing with a couple different clubs, if for nothing else than exposure to different systems, players, and coaches?

How many clubs did your kid play for?

My kid has technically played for 2 but that’s only because of a merger. It’s essentially the same club with a couple other clubs folded in and a name change. That being said, she’s also guest played with a ton of other groups in tournaments, futsal, off-season stuff, etc.

If you and your child are happy, your child progressing as a player and the club is offering the level or opportunities you are wanting for your player then no. Some parents want their child to be a super star player, and some parents just want their child to play and have fun. It comes down to what you and your child want and what your club offers. Every club has some drama or history of drama but right now a good number of clubs are having issue and are extremely toxic. I would suggest to really do your homework of the club if you are thinking of moving.

What are you expecting to hear in this thread? The answer is completely dependent on your specific situation, what your kid wants, and what is happening at your current club.

Yes, some kids will want to switch clubs to be in a more/less competitive environment. Or because you move and travel logistics change. Others will have their needs met at the same club.

I'm not sure how much it's important to move just to get exposure to new coaches and 'systems', because most kids will have different coaches every year.every few years anyway, and coaches can be quite idiosyncratic in their approach to things, even within the same club.

Multiple. Clubs have no loyalty to your kid and could care less about them unless they are in the top 1% of players. Don't fall for any of this "family" manure.

I saw my coach go into a pot shop today. He was wearing a hat which was weird.

Who cares. Would you post if they walked into a liqour store? Worry about yourself.

My kid was really thirsty after soccer practice. Darn kid refused to bring his water, I told him I would get him water on the way home, he said "where"!? I said the starbucks next to the pot shop.

Why didn't you just give him your beer?

If a club has a high quality program, with a clearly defined methodology that allows players to progress year after year to more challenging and complex learning with coaches who are actually good teachers, then that is where you should stay. Too many players chase the “I gotta be seen” thing without asking whether they’ve really learned enough to make them worth being seen anywhere. Trouble is, two few clubs actually offer this kind of progression within their club. You got a shop around for that and when you find it stick with it.
