So if some narcissistic male coach with a small epeen

tells you your girl is too small for midfield, tell him to stick it.

    Croix Bethune
    5'2"

Croix Bethune is an American professional soccer player who plays as an attacking midfielder for the Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League. She played college soccer for the USC Trojans and the Georgia Bulldogs. She was selected by the Spirit third overall in the 2024 NWSL Draft. Wikipedia

"In addition to Bethune’s physical attributes (quick bursts of speed, quick feet, ability to dribble, pass or shoot with her right or left), she also has a rare way of hiding in plain sight.

Watch how Bethune slides behind two defenders. She stays close enough to keep the pass simple, but far enough away to not tip either defender off to her threat. My favorite part is how she gets close to their field of vision, sees the pocket forming, then backs up to avoid detection "

Funny how parents of "small" kids always point to size as why there coach picked someone else.

thats typically not the case. Typically its because they are small and not good enough.

There probabky isnt a team sport that caters to more small athletes than soccer.

But you keep thinking its because they are small.

coaches care about results if the kids a baller and 5'2 coach isn't going to say crap. Sounds like the kid just isn't ready for that position regardless of size, and that was an easy excuse to give you. Do your kid a favor and don't focus on size even if you think that's the reason, help them work on the things they can control. My kids were late bloomers and the smallest on the team until freshman year of HS. Strength training really helped their confidence and performance on the field. Strong kid with a low center of gravity isn't getting pushed off the ball. Work on their burst speed, first three steps with the ball, field awareness, quick decision making. Those are the qualities you need in a good midfielder

If you really think the heights the issue with this coach go try out somewhere else. With as many clubs as their are within 30 min of each other you should be able to find a better playing situation for your kid.
