Same thing happens at XF especially ECNL, they recruit kids who will only accept a spot on the top team at the club. The same kids and parents are so naive that they either don't ask how big the roster is before they accept or they think their son is such a stud he won't have to worry about playing time.

What age? No, sounders are not. Does WeSurf only have 1 team at each age?

It could be a "pool" ? I think Athletico does this - they have a "pool" of dual rostered players and mix and match based on the leagues and tournaments they play in.

Sounders…cough, I mean, Shadow, can barely fill rosters so no they are not. When Surf does this it’s almost always two teams that slide the middle third of players back and forth based on player availability for a given game/weekend.

The only reason to do this is greed. More rostered players, more money.

NO!!! Oversized rosters usually happen at HS ages, but not that big!

Sounders folded, brought back shadow and they think that will fix things? If it’s ran the same way then it’s just going to keep going down hill like it had been for the past 5 years…… and why announce a name change halfway through your tryout? Seems very odd to me….. and surf took massive rosters last year to just keep all the money they could without paying their coaches. The
floating players back and forth is a sales pitch that is a lie everytime but it tricks the kids to staying.

Sounders name change has been whispered about for the past year. Shouldn't be that big of a surprise. Surf running player pools this year allows them to charge everyone the maximum amount without having to worry about a/b/c/d/ team animosity...Congratulations, your kid made the "premier" team, now pay-up. And they only have to pay 1 coach and reserve and schedule 1 field for practices. It also allows them to move players around where needed. Not too different than what we have been doing all year with the A team/EA players playing in the B team/wisl games.

Name the team and age group. They do have a free program for the little kids that I imagine has to lose a ton of money so maybe they are subsidizing that with the older players.

I dont care who they are subsidizing, its just wrong to have more than 20 kids on a high school roster. Really should be 16-18 max!

You know what else is massive? Their tryout numbers this year. Son is currently at the fields and it’s wild.
