Let’s say kiddo does not like the nearby option for GA and the remaining choices are DPL or RL. The RL team does not have ECNL option. Which league is perceived as better in the PNW? I know coach matters and all that, but assume that it is about the same player experience. RL plays fewer travel games so seems like cheaper. DPL has more travel for sure. Worth it to go DPL?

ECRL has more consistently decent competition and less teams that are really far away, so it's a no-brainer. That being said, consider the DPL option if it means a better coach and teammates.

If there's a great coach and team, do that. The league and even the club are secondary to the team.
But if that's a DPL team, know that the league is awful. Your only "local" game would be Mt Rainier. Otherwise you're in Spokane, Coeur d'Alene, Boise, Yakima, Tri-cities, Bend, and Portland.
For league play, you're much better off doing ENCL-RL and RCL.
