When it comes to upper level pre-ECNL teams, what is the role of a coach for teaching kids what to do with certain in-game situations vs that of the parents? I’m not trying to be snarky, really just trying to understand my role as a parent here. Many kids, including mine, continue to look very lost on certain types of plays, such as taking or defending corners or other set pieces. Positioning too. Is it my job to review videos with my kid when it’s available although I’m no soccer expert? Worried about teaching the wrong thing/habit/reflex. Should I bring it up to coach (really not my style as I want to respect their role and be a supportive parent)? It’s just seems so glaring that I feel I should bring it up but part of me just wants to let it go and wait to see how the teams line up next year. Any suggestions?

Many clubs are bringing their own video solutions (Veo) for games, we’ve had luck asking the coach for a film session, you might also pay for a private to cover the tape
