    Valor

I'm writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding our experience with Volar Soccer Organization. It is with heavy heart that I share our unfortunate encounter, which can only be described as corrupt.
My 12-year-old son was thrilled to join the team and had worked hard to earned his place. As a single mother, I made evey effort to accommodate his commitment by adjusting my schedule and ensuring he attended every practice and game. However, I was disheartened, to witness my son being sidelined for the majority of the time. This prompted me to approach the coach and express my concerns about his playing time. Unfortunately, my plea was meet with dismissal and disregard.
At this point, I couldn't help but wonder if the coach's behavior was influenced by my accent or my choice to wear a hijab, as part of my Islamic tradition. Seeking clarification and understanding, I decided to reach out to the director of Valor, Keith, via e-mail. I hoped that he would address my concerns and initiate a conversation with the coach to shed light on the situation. Regrettably, shortly after sending the e-mail, my son's, coach Dee Robinson, approached my son in a bullying manner and informed him that he would not be considered for the team next year.
Feeling disheartened and bewildered by the organization's behavior, I made the difficult decision to withdraw my son from the team. It is deeply concerning to witness such a disregard for a child's development and growth. How can a child improve and acquire necessary skills if they are not given the opportunity to play? This type of negative behavior is not only unacceptable but also fosters a hostile and racist environment. As a concerned parent, I did not feel seen or heard by the organization.
Furthermore, it very dispiriting to note that this issue extends beyond our own personal issues. Several other ethnic parents within the organization have expressed similar concerns. It appears that valor Soccer Organization prioritizes playing time based on race, which is deeply distressing. It is saddening to realize that the organization is willing to accept payment from families but fails to provide equal opportunities for children who do not fit a certain profile.
I am saddened to have to write this post, but I believe that the truth needs to be told. It is my hope that by bringing these concerns, necessary actions will be taken to rectify and ensure that all children, regardless of their race or cultural background are given equal opportunities to participate and grow with valor Soccer Organization.

You are so funny. Your son wasn’t very good so he didn’t get to play much on this team. Just take him to a lower level team where he is not going to be the weakest player and he’ll be fine.

NOBODY CARES about your Hijab, or Kippah, or Turban, or Yarmulke, or Niqab.

I wear my Chador and nobody cares. Both my sons play all the time because they are good players. There a boy who wears a turban and he also plays.

        Victim.

Your kid wasnt good enough, so he didnt play. And you thought youd improve the situation by getting involved.

so the coach communicated directly with your son, to make sure he had the right expectation,

and now you are saying the club is racist.

        wrong.

        1) You dont belong in the conversation regarding your childs playing time. That is between the coach and the player
        2) You probably made the situation worse by going to the coach. At that point the coach felt it important to set the right expectation and appropriatly communicated directly to your son.
        3) Stay out of your kids soccer. Hes not 4. If your kid isnt playing, find a team at the appropriate level.

Valor had a player calling a bunch of our players ethnic slurs because they were of Mexican decent. Not the first time I’ve heard of racial issues with them.

That kind of people exist everywhere at every club. Nothing new. I would have to crawl under the rock and play victim for the rest of my life if the goal was to never hear such slurs again.
