All the recent threads about LFC and Titans and coaches and licenses got me thinking. What does make a great coach:
1) Is it someone who wins tournaments
2) Is it someone players enjoy playing for
3) Is it someone who teaches more than just the sport
4) Is it someone who acts inappropriately toward children
5) Is it someone who berates referees 6) Is it someone who cares about the kids
7) Is it someone who unifies a team
For me - a coach in youth sports needs to remember why they are coaching. A coach needs to have an open dialog with players and parents. A coach needs to listen.
This is why the coaches who left LFC are good coaches. It's because they love the game, they love having an impact on the kids, they teach more than the sport, they don't get investigated for their behavior, they aren't the subject of numerous posts on this board, and they stand up for what they believe.
