It's with great regret as I write this that we have to cancel the Winter Classic for the first time in 15 years. As you all know we have been closely monitoring the weather situation, and while the forecast for snow has diminished, the extreme cold air is really settling in and the conditions are just too dangerous for everyone!
The safety of the players, coaches, and referees is our #1 consideration, and the current risk is just too high.
We use the US Soccer Federation Cold Weather Guidelines (which I've attached) as the measure to follow for the tournament. We've determined that the tournament will be in the High Risk for Cold Related Illness and the Extreme Conditions ranges for the entire weekend and that is unsafe for all participants.
The hope by canceling tonight is to allow enough notice for you to cancel your travel arrangements and recoup your costs. I have the following information from Event Connect to help with the hotels.

King County Emergency Management just issued a warning. All games should be canceled this weekend. It is no different than when it is extreme heat.Comment
