Have no idea who "Elite Soccer Youth" is, but the full document quoted is here (it's in the very last paragraph):

Our family rule was we'll never spend more time driving to practice than practicing so it stays around 30min, once they can drive themselves they can pick somewhere else.

        Sounds reasonable to me!

It is disgusting what parents have to do to make sure their kids are safe, having fun, and developing. I wish there were local clubs that just wanted kids to play soccer, have fun, and get better week to week. They all preach development but I have yet to see a coach teach any fundamentals. That has to be done in private lessons. 8 hours a week with your kids isn’t enough at 8,9,10 years old to teach passing, striking, defending. It is enough to cut your kid for not being Messi, though.
Spot on and same situation for us. Everything in this area is set up to the benefit of the clubs and not the players or families. Not enough choices and too much power in the hands of some really bad coaches and club directors to determine the fate of your child with little recourse but to leave and have to take on a long drive for an alternative. Doesn’t help that everything in this region is so spread out and traffic is so bad

Unfortunately, it is a double edged sword. If a club truly worked on development at the younger ages, they would lose a lot of games. Parents would get mad they are paying a lot of money to never win. Coaches are put in a position where winning comes over development or they won't have a team/club. It's pretty disappointing, but not going to change.

I agree there needs to be more transparency.Parents are chasing a dream and then they realize they have been jacked.
