Best leagues ranked to play D1

New to the competitive soccer environment. How would you rank these, or am I missing some: ECNL, GA, DA, Sounders Academy?

    There is no DA anymore

for boys locally it’s Sounders academy and ECNL only (for D1).

There's no way this is an actual XF person. If you are, just know this is pretty cringe, as the kids say.

While I totally agree that it’s cringe, at this point he’s not totally wrong. And I despise XF.

Being in ECNL or GA on the girls side or ECNL or MLS Next on the boys side is pretty much a minimal requirement for landing a D1 spot. (There are a handful of players not in those leagues who get D1 spots, but it’s really a very small number). But being in one of those leagues is far from a guarantee of a D1 spot. There are far more spots than players, and a lot of the spots don’t include much money or are at schools that might not be of interest to your player. On the girls side, there are 128 ECNL teams and 94 GA teams — so almost 4000 players assuming 18 player rosters. There are 333 D1 programs, so about 2331 spots if you assume an average of about 7 kids per class. 10–15% of those spots go to internationals so the real number is closer to 2000, and a lot of those come with no money, little chance of playing much, and a school your kid might not choose apart from soccer. There are even fewer spots on the boys side. The very top players on most ECNL and some GA teams will have a number of good D1 options — that’s maybe 20-30 kids in the state in any given year. Top GA players will probably have a lot more options than most middle of the roster ECNL players. A lot more people will end up at D2 or D3 schools where they are happy. And a lot of kids on teams in top leagues will end up not playing college soccer at all. For any family early in the process, picking a club or team based on how its league impacts the chances of landing a D1 spot down the road would be foolish. Pick a club where your kid is happy, supported, challenged, and developing. The right environment for your kid will be a lot more important than being in one league or the other.

Nope. You don't need ecnl anymore than you need that fifth can of coke right now. Go to clubs like Altetico where they land coveted d1 spots.

You are not going D1 if you are not in MLS=>Next or ECNL, that's the reality.
