Hilarious. The context / additional info does not make this look any better for so called coach. Offering an apology and constructive feedback basically means the dude wanted another opportunity to tell the kid that it was really his fault: "Listen kiddo, I'm sorry this has happened but if you'd handled it how I tell ya now you would not 've triggered me to start with".

To his credit, Derek met with the referee (teenager/XF boys player) and his parents, offering an apology for losing his cool and the criticism, as well as some constructive feedback on how to prevent overly bias calls in games as a referee. Both the player and his parents accepted the apology and were supportive of the conversation.

It's not always sh*t on XF and the coaches, get the full story before you jump on an anonymous forum and shout your mouth off.

Ok Derek!! You’re clearly trying to explain yourself here. The bottom line you were behaving inappropriately and it was recognized by others. You’re under so much pressure to win and your teams are under performing you displaced you anger on a teenage ref. Go coach Rec or go back to being a teacher. Spinning the confrontation to make you look less terrible is a reflection on you and how weak of a person you are.

DEREK IS A LIAR. His previous statement of providing feedback is BS. Cant trust a word out of that man’s mouth. He’s a calculated and horrible person. Consider moving back to Tennessee with all your lies.

Oh guys… get a life for yourself and your kiddo…
Looks like you never was on real big out of state tournaments. We saw the whole parents sideline removed from the field… their coach was the next in the line.

Regarding the situation. Sometimes the opposite teams coaches use technique aka iron throat pressure, which was a case in this story and the real root cause of the conflict. And this is totally unacceptable if you have youth referee. Because of this, I want you, OP, to share who was the oppose team and their coach name. If you want to drag somebody in the dirt - do it for both parties involved.

I think you might be the coach from G15 Celtics green. You manipulated poor teenager referee the whole time. We have video taped you throughout the game.

Derek is the best club coach I have seen. He truly cares individual player development instead of just team performance.

QUOTE=Guest;n4500145]Who is Derek Sharpe from XF? And why was his behavior so poor today at the proliance tournament? He coaches tiny ones and he was verbally abusing the child ref. It’s proliance not the World Cup. How embarrassing for him and the club. These are the type of coaches that shouldn’t be around children. He should be ashamed of himself. [/QUOTE]

His name is Tyler Robbins from G15 Seattle Celtic green.

And we are parents of “tiny ones” he named in his post.

Please be respectful of ALL players and referees and soccer game itself!

I don’t understand the point of this entire post. Everyone who knows anything understands there is zero accountability for poor behavior at XF.

Coaches are melting down at a G15 soccer match - these people need counseling

I'd never met the guy before this weekend, he guest coached my kids team and did a great job. Our team had to play with 10 and he managed the situation really well. The kids all really liked him, and the match officials and opposing coach both congratulated him on how well the team played despite the uphill battle. The only one losing his mind was the opposing coach because his kids couldn't manage to take the lead against 10.

It's funny how the conversation has turned. I don't know Derek at all or anything about this particular game. I do however know Tyler (the Celtic coach) and completely disagree with the negative comments about him. He's been a youth coach for a long time, the kids (and parents of the kids) he coaches all like and respect him, and he does a great job with the little ones. I don't know about the "iron throat pressure" but that seems like a diversion and very unlike the Celtic coach.

In general, coaches need to just sit an observe games. Do the coaching in practice. Break down game film a day or two after. Joy sticking the kids around and screaming at the ref benefits nobody. Sure coaches should be making tactical changes and explaining to the kids what they are seeing, but let them play and make their own mistakes. In youth sports, individual games don't matter. Learning and growth do.

Tyler is one of the best youth coaches in the area. Tyler not only develops players he does it in a kind and supportive way. The fact that people are trying to change the narrative away from Derek onto the other coach is poor taste. Anyone at the game knows who was at fault.

Anyone who has ever played against XF or Valor knows what the coaching environment and sideline behavior is all about.
