Why was Eastside Fred Thompson let go on previous roles

People have to ask, why was Fred Thompson the Eastside fc coaches let go from his previous coaching roles, club and parents need to investigate before allowing themselves to player under him. Do you background check a people!
Eastside leadership heed to do a better job of doing their research on their coaching hires, they too need to take responsibility and be held responsible.

All coaches are background checked every year dumb ass. Get a life and stop trying to ruin other people.

Fred Thompson, before moving to Eastside, was a Coach at WPFC for two years. He wasn't let go from Premier, he received a better offer at Eastside. Given Fred's CV, it made sense for all involved parties. Prior to coaching at WPFC, Fred was the Head Coach as Southern Utah University. Was the separation amicable? - No. Was there malfeasance or malice on the part of Coach Fred? - No. An alumni and donor wasn't happy. Coach Fred felt differently. We ALL know how that story goes, and it never goes well for the person on the receiving end of a donor and alumni. Now, I will say Coach Fred isn't for everyone. His soccer IQ is significantly higher than most of his peers, and he has a certain way of doing things. And he has very little patience for backseat drivers who have never played or coached (yeah, looking at you, parents). NONE of those things have EVER pointed to anything other than a particular coaching style. When my daughter played for him, I didn't like his style at first either. He had just come off a very long stretch (10+ years) of coaching at the college and pro level. Dealing with middle school girls again was certainly not in his immediate toolset. But, after some acclimation and adjustment, he was great. I've known Coach Fred for 10+ years, and I can say pretty definitively that he's a man of honor, respect, and integrity.

If you have a complaint, call it out. Otherwise you're just talking smack and stirring the pot for nothing other than to be a pain.

Thank you, appreciate this post. My guess is that someone saw that Fred and James Riley were named as coaches for EFC's U23 and decided they wanted to disparage the club and individuals.

Sad that people would stoop so low.

Fred is an outstanding coach. Very, very smart and wants to teach his players tactics and develop their soccer IQ. But his style is that of a patient teacher-- he guides them as they learn from their mistakes, gently prodding when needed, and never screaming from the sideline. He is reliable, kind, and consistent, and without the drama and personality disorders of so many youth coaches in our area. He listens to his players, and for those who show commmitment and dedication, he is very invested in them. My player has grown very fond of him at EFC. Is he the most responsive over email? No, he's not. But he always communicates best in-person, especially with his players. And this one small flaw of not being tied 24/7 to his email account is fine compared with the huge pile of poo associated with so many other coaches out there.

Anyone seeking to smear his name or insuate otherwise should be ashamed. He's a good dude with a wealth of experience and we feel lucky to have him as a coach.

Fred was one of the few good coaches at WP, surrounded by a bunch of clowns. They would have been lucky to keep him, but I don’t blame him at all for leaving that s***show of a club

Yeah, because their teams are so great aren’t they? Wake me up when one of them finishes higher than third place. Huge geographical area to pull from, owned fields and they still suck

Totally agree! My family is at WPFC and the club is going downhill fast. For the most part their ECNL teams are struggling and not performing as well as they have in the past. We have been disappointed in the coaches and are struggling to find reasons to stay. Tryouts can’t come soon enough, ready to switch things up!
