    Coach reviews?

Is there a site where I can read reviews of youth coaches? Seems an odd miss in a world where we review restaurants, stores, schools, and even airplane seats. With the amount of time and money we spend on developing our players, how is it that there is not some transparency around the quality/performance/styles of different coaches?

This might be the only place. Another option is to speak to parents who had or have the coach. Of course you have to assume they are being honest and know what they are talking about. So an honest plus soccer intelligent parent, not impossible to find but obviously it might be just a few parents per team.

This is the place pretty much. You can do a search by the coach’s name. If nothing comes up — just ask.

I wish there was a coach review site though. That would be great!

Some coaches are just bad, for whatever reason, but many can be good for certain players or a certain team and then the chemistry doesn't work with other players/teams. One of my kids had a coach that was fantastic, kid really responded, improved etc. The next year same coach takes over other kid's team. Kid 2 couldn't stand him. Most of the parents on the second team couldn't stand him and they got him removed from the team. You just never know.

Agree it has to be specific for each kid, but there has to be a way to get some "objective" way to compare styles/skills/fit.

Parents aren’t getting paid for a service coaches are.

                and

Sadly Washington youth soccer has examples of pedophiles, rapists and child abusers in the last couple of years. I think parents needs a place to keep tabs on a coach or two.

Are you normal? You are sick to the core! Before claiming that you should provide a proof. Any criminal charges pressed?

Every youth organization runs security/background checks for any new hire…. Plus they should train every employee in anti-harassment ( and other bad things) training… to protect kids and employees from not fair accusations. Plus they should have special policies and systems in place…like employees should never be in one on one situation with kids. Only group of kids plus coach/ caregiver …

And do your part as a parent . Teach your kid!

though tragic this happened almost 20 years ago. It's probably one of the reasons for the many of the protections in place in WYS

I would estimate that only about 10% of coaches around here are actually good. Meaning that they have an actual coaching philosophy around how to develop players and are decent communicators/motivators to kids. Most are wannabe Pep Guardiolas, who focus way too much on tactics and formations. Most don't rotate players different positions. Most can't demonstrate or provide feedback on how to improve technique. Most don't aim to make practice fun or care about team culture. And no 1 club has a monopoly on those good coaches...they are truly scattered around the area.
