Sh!t or get off the pot. Choose a club and stick with it rather than not being a fully committed team player.

Why? The clubs don't care -- as long as they get your money. So as a consumer you're free to choose who you want to spend your money with - we are all fortunate to live in an area where there are plenty of options.

Yes - I looked at the rules carefully before signing up for both. Since WPL and WYS are separate organizations, can play for both and get different players cards. However, usually can't play for both teams in the same tournament (have to choose).

As for practices, we have to pick and choose. Titans Eastside practices in the Redmond/Bel-Red area while XF is Redmond - if the practices are staggered (eg 4:00p start for one and 5:30p start for the other), then he will go to both. If one team has a tournament that weekend, they get prioritized. Titans is physically more demanding (those kids run a lot) and XF is slower paced, so doing both in one day is actually not hard.

I really don't understand why parents/kids in the lower teams don't play XF select (or another select club). They are going to get the same fundamentals (and most of those kids need better fundamentals) while paying 1/3 the cost. Look at Lake Hills - they charge $500. Also, look at state cup - many select teams do well compared to the lower RCL teams (even higher sometimes too). Select coaching is highly variable though - could have a coach that is awesome or just runs drills, but I've found, in all cases so far, select coaches have more passion for helping kids (could be that it's not a job - they don't get paid so they are doing it because they want to).

As for clubs, I really don't understand why some people are so committed to one club or another. For example, I don't feel special about being a Costco member and will cut off Costco if I'm not happy with them (same goes for these clubs). This is about youth soccer and the club you are on shouldn't matter (this also reflects my opinion on people who work at corporations - they are willing to lay you off based on "business need"). My kid plays XF and Titans out of convenience and the two clubs provide different aspects of soccer (neither is a good solution alone). There are other great clubs in this region (Seattle, Eastside, Celtics, etc.), but I'm not willing to drive that far for youth soccer. In my opinion, my kid and the majority of kids on his team and in his clubs are not going pro. In fact, most won't get a scholarship to a premier academic school. I'd rather pay for my kid to go to a good academic school rather than get a full ride to an average academic school. So youth soccer comes out of my entertainment budget (like my Sounders and Seahawks season tickets) - personally, I find my kid's games really fun to watch. I'm one of those parents who applaud when the opposing team makes a smart play and congratulates opposing players when they do something good on the field - they are kids and little things like that help build their confidence.

Just my thoughts - hope they help someone out there

          Who?
play where your kids friends are at.
if your kid lives soccer. Than move to a bigger club by u12.

clubs don’t care about your kids, but their coaches do! My kids old coaches still come out and watch them play. They show a lot of pride that they had something to do with mentoring the kids.

Find a club that teaches a good first touch on the ball. Not just a kick and run.

You did not read the rules very closely,

"A dual Registered player may be listed with a Regional Club team while at the same
time participate with and play Recreational League only."

pg. 6 RCL rules of play

This is an argument WYS lost a long time ago. WYS can't prevent a player from registering with another organization. Sure, within USYS they can say you can't register for two different teams within USYS, but if the other organization is US Club, WSY can't prevent it.

If you are such a great parent that congratulates the opposition for great plays (as we all should), have you not considered what happens when your Titans player doesn't attend their xf training or games? Did you consider that other players are getting screwed by your actions as the players and the coaches are unable to have solid practices and games. My players team missed a tournament thanks to Titans players not being 'available' as they were playing another tournament. Think on that. Choose and commit, this is youth sports and you are exhibiting players that are dedicated and want to play their best because your player has to choose.

I'm sorry to hear that your team wasn't able to participate in a tournament. We have a clear internal rule about how to choose - if one team is going to be short players, even if they are playing in a weaker tournament, my kid will play with that team. There is the potential scenario of both teams being short, but that hasn't happened.

So far, I've not seen a single practice where all other kids (not including mine) were available. People go on vacations, have other activities, etc. and that's a part of life. I always provide a "yes/no" for TeamSnap so the coach can prepare. I used to coach, so I know how annoying a lack of a response or a "maybe" response are for planning - but I could always adapt if a kid were missing or all of a sudden could make practice. I'm sure my kid's coaches can do the same.

Your comment about being on a single team is fair and something my kid and I talked about before joining two teams. The way he sees it is that if Messi can play for both Argentina and PSG (this was around the time people were complaining about Messi not helping PSG because he was too focus on Argentina), then he can too. I know, not a perfect analogy, but I understand what he's saying.

Yes, this is youth soccer and my kid is committed to youth soccer - not to any single club or team. He does appreciate good coaches and good teammates, no matter what team he is currently on.

STFU loser and worry about your own kid. I'm a XF parent and you sound like a weak a55 sissy. It's a dude money and let him do whatever he wants.

Between the poor grammar and crass language... you do not need to announce that you are an XF parent.... we know.

Sam, Mario and Jaynie are good coaches. Overall its a pretty mixed bag. In my experience the Titans are more rec than premier. Lots of the kids are spread very thin with multiple activities/clubs/sports. Practice attendance can be choppy and it seems about half the kids are not fully committed to giving it 100% and getting better. There is good talent in the club but they have so many teams that it's very diluted across the org. They need to move away from the growth model and start cutting dead weight. My son is just starting out but they'll be trying out with XF or EFC next year.

If you want to support the club owner buying nice things while providing you mediocre competition, go for it. You would be far better off playing plain old select (LH, BUFC, MI, IS, ETC) and putting some money in a 529. or nice vacation for the family. Total scam operation.

If you can afford it why not. A chance for more individual play and coaching without the need for strong team commitments. Show up and support the team when it works for you. It’s a for-profit club so it works for Titans as long as the checks come in.

But not great for the team/team chemistry. But as long as it works for you.

                                might I suggest Coerver?
