Just in case you are confused this forum is about soccer (It's not American football and there is a HUGE # between the two).
Regarding influencing boards....Time will tell but when it happens, remember that someone posting anonymously on a chat board contribute to it. And all the excuses you might hear are just phony.... Just like the B coach who left in mid season. The official reason is that he had too much work.......
Now, if you had any class at all. You would leave my son out of it but....Trash is trash... even if you put make on a pig it's still a pig. Finally, I acknowledge that I'm a terrible role model, so is my wife and my dog. To end, thank you for the "role model" lesson you taught me tonight, I would be forever grateful..

    Cheers,
You don't believe the previous coach left mid season because of too much work from his real job?

I mean he is now a VP at a large tech company so yeah, he must have been lying about his free time… this board is so full of BS.

There's a real chance my son might end on on a team coached by Loren Langley. How good/bad is he? Seems mixed to bad. I saw his B09 select team lost every single game a season ago (though losing games isn't always the coach). I don't know when he started with the B12 team, but it looks like that team ended the season with a bunch of draws. No info other than what's on the XF premier site.

At face value, looks like this is a coach who is conservative and unable to develop offense minded players. The losses and draws tell me that he probably puts his best players (regardless of their natural position) on defense so he gets draws or loses by only a bit. Every now and then, will get a lucky win (there are weak teams out there!). Not the style of soccer I like - can someone who had their kid play for him tell me whether this is right/wrong? How are his practices?

You must have played at a really high level to deduce so much from his teams records.

Do you think these youth coaches are the next Pep and that their W/L record speaks to their coaching ability for 8/9 year old kids? How do you know that a coach who won all his games doesn’t treat his kids like crap and they are miserable but they win? Conversely, a team with an average W/L record is due to the coach really developing his players and not being overly concerned with Winning? It’s also possible that little Jimmy who scores a lot of goals broke his arm falling out of the bunk bed and missed 8 weeks?.

You obviously don't know what you are talking about. Let's go ahead and pipe down and let the soccer savant show us the way.

I watched one of his games, I’d put the team above average. They have some nice players. They are in the second division not first which made me wonder about there ability relative to there peers.

I think they were top of second division for the season. I have concerns when I see XF teams losing a bunch of games that’s a big red flag for any RCL A or B team at XF.

Well, I am asking for the advice from people with first hand experience with this coach. Other than the records, the only pieces of information I have are the teams he's coached in the past, and two or three prior posts from parents who had kids on his team last season. Rather than jump to conclusions, I welcome more parents with first-hand experience to provide their opinion.

This does point to a deficiency - we need a Yelp! for professional (not volunteer) youth coaches. Some clubs take a survey at the end of the season, but I've never seen those results. For people like me (and I'm sure many people who come to this board), we are looking for advice from people who want to help (or come to this board to help). Thanks to the person who shared their experience watching one of his game.

Also, to the person who wrote the below, I welcome your thoughts on how a coach should be evaluated with so little information out there. For example, what are your thoughts on Loren Langley as a coach and what is the basis for that assessment and opinion? If you have no opinion (because you have as little information as me), then what do you need to form a coherent opinion?

I completely agree that there needs to be more information out there about theses coaches and a ratings system sounds like a great idea. Not sure how that would work and whether it would run the risk of being biased for a multitude of reasons. Best advice I can give would be to speak with a parent of a player or check out one of the teams practices/games so you can get a feel for the coach/club. I know some clubs aren’t as focused on W/L records at this young age. Clubs are supposed to play all players 50% of the game, but when clubs don’t adhere to that rule at the young ages it can dramatically skew records.

Not A teams. A teams do not have to give anyone minutes.

I’m a parent of a kid on his XF 12B RCL2 team. I have found some of the comments on the coach harsh. He definitely valued defensive shape and stability. And yes, the team seemed to struggle more offensively. But, he was discovering kids mid-year and trying to replace a 3-4 goals/game player promoted to A team. I found him involved in practices. Although, I’m no expert on what constitutes a “good” practice session. I have found his feedback on my son’s +/- to be relevant. Honest, but positive. My son enjoys him as a coach and he is helping him with his confidence while setting clear expectations. Maybe for some parents, the style of play is not ideal. But for my kid, I think it is a good fit for him and will help to keep improving next year (if he stays on RCL2 team of course). He is a relatively calm coach and that temperament is perfect for my son at this stage of his development. I think with a full year with the same core of players in RCL2, this team will be a top 5 RCL1 team if the powers-that-be allow us to play in the right division in 2022-23.

These kids are 10-11 years old and on the "b" team correct?

Kids born in 2012 so they’re mostly 10. And yes, it is the B team.

This is really helpful and appreciate the perspective. The end of the season makes more sense - I know that a single kid can make a big difference in terms of goals. I think it's fair to say that there is a distribution of skill/talent/athleticism on any team. I've seen other coaches put their strongest players on defense, try to find a striker and keeper, and everyone else gets rotated through the midfield. Does this coach do this too?

One thing I've been thinking about is whether it's worth it to be on XF B premier vs XF A select team for an elementary aged kid. Sure, there are difference (3 v 2 practices/wk, longer season, NPSL vs RCL, etc.), but are they really worth it considering the coaching is about the same (esp in this case where a select coach was converted to a premier coach)? Plus, select is about 1/3 the cost - could almost add Coerver for the year with the difference...

Only in America a VP in some old/ dead legacy tech company is coaching a pro soccer team with no references to speak of? did he play for Real Madrid? or coached Barcelona or he paid HUGO to get the job?
