    Seattle United vs Rush

Appreciate some assistance in determining which club we should focus on? Any negative interactions with either of these clubs? My son has been encouraged to play premier, we live in Lynnwood.

Depends on a few things. Rush has some decent teams, but they don't have access to the higher leagues of ECNL and RECNL. Seattle United has access to ECNL and RECNL.

Seattle united lists those nice north Seattle fields, but I've heard you often get scheduled for practice further away.

I would reach out to the clubs and ask if you kid can join a session for his age group. We are in the try it out phase in premier right now so lots of kids dropping in to practice so the coach can have a look.

There is also Sound FC in your area, they have struggled with poor management for the last 5 years, but seem to be slowly making their way back.

I would start with what is closest to home, and the coach your kid likes the best. As your players skill improves you can always tryout at different clubs.

Lynnwood to Seattle drive for practices would be a lot harder than driving a little bit north. If your kid is elite go with SU, most of the best Rush players end up at SU or Crossfire as they get older. Rush does a good job of training up the young kids their teams are usually pretty tough to beat and they play beautiful soccer. They just need ecnl to keep their best players from leaving.

If your son is a top level player please do him a favor and let him tryout with Crossfire. Not a longer drive than Seattle, more consistent practice fields, amazing coaches and still draws the best players in the northwest.

this really is the crossfire forum isn’t it? Haha. Lynnwood to Redmond 2 or 3 times a week in rush hour traffic is doable but it will make you hate life. If the kid is under 12 I recommend Rush or Sound.

Not to add more confusion- My children do not go to Snohomish, but we play against them. Many of their top kids are in the greater Lynwood area. They haven't performed exceptionally well in ECNL, but have good coaches and are building.

the good news is you have options. Don't listen to the XF homer. Reach out to the top coach at your child's age group or the club director and make the drive, and have your son participate in a couple of practices.

Go to Sound, Rush, SU, Snohomish, and Crossfire and see what is the best fit.

Logistics are important. You will likely be driving somewhere near your home fields 4-5 times a week between practice, games, and other informal get togethers (private group trainings, sleepovers, bday parties etc).

If playing on the top team is important to you, Crossfire and SU are probably your best bets. But if finding the right place for your son to thrive is important to you, check them all out and then ask your son what is the best fit.

I have a kid in SU, I live in north Seattle, and I work in Lynnwood. My experience has been that most SU practices are in north Seattle/Shoreline. The commute from Lynnwood to those areas is typically a breeze in the afternoon (it usually starts to jam up just south of Northgate). The northbound I-5 traffic is consistently brutal at that time but would typically be easing by the time you were driving home. So the commute from Lynnwood to practices would not be so bad in most cases for SU. However, we do have occasional practices in south Seattle (Genesee or Georgetown). Maybe one out of every 5 practices are in the south end. Those commutes would not be pleasant. But certainly no worse than going to Redmond. This has been my experience over the last few years - your mileage may vary...

Or they have enough money and players to be able to pay a directors salary.

I wouid live to hear what these directors actually do. From being at multiple clubs, it has been seemingly very little to zero.
