    Try outs already??

Who is excited for try outs? It is interesting to see how many new kids show up. Or how many kids move up or down tiers.

As a manager it's my least favorite time of the year, everyone's so anxious players and parents. I feel for all the bubble players . . .

I have some conversations no surprises in my world but there are some people who will be shocked when there not asked to return. Crazy parent exit stage left.

Neither my kids or I were ever nervous. Especially when the kids already played in the same club for the past season, coaches should already know their strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks for letting us know you weren't nervous. Not sure I would have made it through the night without that information.

Happy to help. Seems like you have different issues though…

Should a player move clubs their senior year?

I suffer from living vicariously through other parents who live vicariously through their children.

Will be interesting to see how possible XF departures impact tryouts. I don’t think there will be a mass exodus but I think more will leave top XF teams than normal.

Or maybe people come back to XF since the coaches that are suspended and left were not their favorites. It can go both ways. I be the net effect is zero.

I agree that tryouts themselves aren't too stressful because the body of work usually matters more than the tryout, but the team selection period (which happens immediately after try-outs) can be nerve-wracking. There's lots of competition out there, so some kids are going to be on the bubble even if they're passionate and hard-working.

Yep - its the most wonderful time of the year. That crazy parent who can only spend a season or max two seasons at a club before they've worn everyone out - now has to go out hunting for a new place for their kid to play.

sometimes they leave just before tryouts hoping they can spread crazy somewhere else.
