Most teams at ECNL level don't have bench warmers, but there are definite starters and players who get more minutes. XF Coaches rotate who goes to the showcases (at least ours did) so my kid did have opportunities to play and be seen. I never said anything about D1 -- again, for some that might be the goal. My player did have D1 coaches reaching out but she wanted a high academic D3 and plays at school that is highly ranked in the division and one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country. Coaches are great, players are great, and she loves the school. Obviously if your kid is on a team where they barely play at all, that won't help recruitment. But college coaches are less interested in where a player fits on their club and more interested in figuring out if a particular player has the skills the coach needs on their roster and the academic profile to get into the school

Crossfire’s teams are almost always the top in the state and near the top in the country.

Let’s see how the boys team do in three years when the Troy’s formula is undone.

My guess is in three years there will be the normal 10% turnover each year. The team will have mostly the same level of competitiveness. The parents will be the same level of crazy. The kids will then graduate high school and not look back....oh and we will still see none of them playing in the World Cup in 2026.

Crossfire will remain on the top. Troy had his strengths as a coach and recruiter of talent. Other coaches will bring their strengths and will develop great players. The Crossfire organization is bigger than Troy, Justi or Bernie.

Heard the same thing from Greater Seattle Surf and ISC Gunners And then everyone jumped ship.

It will survive, just as those two did. But it won't be the same.

Seattle Surf or the Gunners were different and can’t be compared with Crossfire. I would expect a few players to leave the teams affected by Troy and Justi leaving. Last year a number of players on Troy’s teams left too. Maybe it’s going to be a few more. Makes room for new players or the top ECNL2 players to move up.

Others may come back. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Of the 4 players leaving Troy’s 07 ECNL team last year, where they were starters, to go to Sounders, only 1 played regularly and 2 mostly became bench warmers. Surely not great for player development.

Crossfire without Troy on the boys side will suffer. They don’t now have a leader for the younger age group. Most parents will go to Eastside if you have a 7-10 year old since Troy will be working with that age group. If you look back at crossfire before Troy, they were good but not any better than Seattle United or Washington Premier. I think they will be good but lose their dominance, maybe they had already lost in when the DA ended and they didn’t have any special programs to offer than other clubs can’t match.

I went to eastside’s website there is no mention of Troy as a coach there. Where are you getting your information from?

If you want your 7-10 years old “coached” by someone who spends the majority practice time on his phone or texting rather than engaging with the kids you should follow Troy to his new club. He is a great recruiter but not a great developer of soccer skills.

Crossfire is the best in the Pacific Northwest and will remain the best for a long time. Continuous improvement and commitment to excellence is what drive this amazing club.

I have to say Troy didn't actively coach in the team practice nor in the game with his youngest XF team. But his 07 team did win ECNL champion. I don't understand the formula. But that's what happened.
