Club dues typically include league fees and referees somehow get paid. With all of the “no ref” games (never mind no ARs), who is pocketing the extra cash that is not being paid for refs? RCL, the clubs? I’m curious.

The coaches of the specific teams involved split the cash for each game, 50-50. If the managers insist or threaten to blow the whistle, they get cut in.

Ref fees are a fairly insignificant cost for most clubs. It’s not worth it to refund each player twelve dollars. Same thing with field fees when training gets cancelled for weather. Club doesn’t pay, but the effort to go through and audit/refund is too much. As long as you trust your club, the “excess” revenue is just going to be recycled into the next season anyway.
