    Seattle United's Size Flex

Per its Twitter, "Seattle United is the largest soccer club in the Pacific Northwest with nearly 2,000 players wearing the SU badge."

Does size matter? Why doesn't SU get better results on the field?

I think your PacNW ranking is a bit inflated.... but I think that type of discussion is entirely subjective. What are you ranking it on? State titles? Players moved to colleges? revenue? Size of player pool?

Considering the size of the city of Seattle, their membership should be one of the largest if not the largest. Not sure how their membership size is a flex. It's really unfortunate how the big clubs market themselves anyway they can except for the variables that matter. You rarely hear about any club with exceptional coaching (not their bio, but actually develops their players), player/parent satisfaction, or retention.

It is a flex in terms of SU bragging about it in social media. With the most players, SU should have the resources to be the top club so why is XF outperforming SU with a smaller player pool? Is it because XF is better at poaching the best of ISC, EFC, Sound, Rush, etc. Is it because XF coaching is that much better? What else could it be? It also looks like SU is putting fewer players into Sounders Academy than clubs like PAC. If we are grading on a curve, SU seems like a C at best.

XF gets all the good players(not great) from around the state. Seattle United mostly local. The fact is that most players from the Northwest are average or good players on the boys side.

I think he's talking mostly on the girls side. PacNW boys back then is good but now it's a joke. DOC Viet Nguyen is destroying the boys program. His own mother was happy that he finally found a stable job.

Seattle United also has the select program that wears their badge. There are over 50 teams playing in the NPSL this fall. That's at least 600 players plus the High School girls that will play in the winter. Premier is probably more around 1,200 players.

SU has been in decline for some time. Of course it depends on the coach -- they still have some good teams. But it's a hot mess overall.

SU is a fail, it should be a world class program with the resources and talent in the seattle area. yet they don't even have dedicated home fields

2000 seems low for a Seattle based club honestly. There are a couple Eastern Washington clubs well over 1000

Average compared to where? So Cal or Dallas? You are crazy if you think the clubs here are below average on a National basis
