Oswego Nike Cup U14G Results & Predictions

In a day that started out a little gloomy, it sure didn't stop the excitement as the Oswego Nike Cup action got underway. With so many quality teams you can understand why all but one game resulted in ties.
Below are the results for day 1 and the predictions for day 2 [IMHO].

    Results
EMFC 95 Magic 1-1 Columbia Timbers GU14 Red
Placer United Prestige 96 Gold 0-0 Emerald City F95 Green
    LOSC Extreme 1-1 THUSC Sodium
SSC 95 Hotspur 2-2 FC Portland Platinum
EMFC 95 Magic 0-2 ESUFC Arsenal
    SSC 95 Hotspur 1-1 Oregon Rush U14 G Nike

    Points
    ESUFC Arsenal [3]
    SSC 95 Hotspur [2]
    EMFC 95 Magic[1]
    Columbia Timbers GU14 Red [1]
Placer United Prestige 96 Gold [1]
    Emerald City F95 Green [1]
    LOSC Extreme [1]
    THUSC Sodium [1]
    FC Portland Platinum [1]
    Oregon Rush U14 G Nike [1]

    Predictions for Day 2
ESUFC Arsenal vs LOSC Extreme [LOSC] - No surprise
Oregon Rush U14 G Nike vs Placer United Prestige 96 Gold [Placer] - I pick placer based on what I have seen from Rush lately, not playing so well.
THUSC Sodium vs EMFC 95 Magic [THUSC] - No surprise
Emerald City F95 Green vs SSC 95 Hotspur [SSC] - I don't know Emerald City but SSC is playing well right now. Could go either way really.
Columbia Timbers GU14 Red vs ESUFC Arsenal [Timbers] - Timbers are always good and Arsenal is a Silver team. But, guven the Timbers are coming off a loss to Magic and ESUFC is coming off a win, could influence the outcome.
FC Portland Platinum vs Oregon Rush U14 G Nike [FC PDX] - FC is building and will be a powerhouse in a year or so.
Placer United Prestige 96 Gold vs SSC 95 Hotspur [SSC] Again, don't know Placer and SSC is playing well.
LOSC Extreme vs EMFC 95 Magic [LOSC] - No surprise
THUSC Sodium vs Columbia Timbers GU14 Red [THUSC] - I went with THUSC because of bias and the fact they are playing well with only 12 on the roster and that I don't know the Placer team.
Emerald City F95 Green vs FC Portland Platinum [tie] - Emerald went with Sodium to U12 regionals but FC, in the last games I've seen, is playing well.
**Again, these are predictions based on nothing more than what I saw on the field with a little prior knowledge thrown in.**

Well, we'll see how it goes. Looking forward to another great day of soccer at the Polo Fields! Best of luck to all teams and make sure you drink plenty of water!!!

    Cheers!:D

    Day 2

In what proved to be a day of upsets and exhaustion, the brackets are shaping up with some surprising teams emerging to lead the pack.

    Results Day 2 [my predictions]
[LOSC] ESUFC Arsenal 3-3 LOSC Extreme
[Placer] Oregon Rush U14 G Nike 1-1 Placer United Prestige 96 Gold
[THUSC] THUSC Sodium 1-2 EMFC 95 Magic
[SSC] Emerald City F95 Green 0-0 SSC 95 Hotspur
[Timbers] Columbia Timbers GU14 Red 2-1 ESUFC Arsenal
[FC PDX] FC Portland Platinum 1-2 Oregon Rush U14 G Nike
[SSC] Placer United Prestige 96 Gold 2-1 SSC 95 Hotspur
[LOSC] LOSC Extreme 3-1 EMFC 95 Magic
[THUSC] THUSC Sodium 0-1 Columbia Timbers GU14 Red
[Tie] Emerald City F95 Green 1-0 FC Portland Platinum
    [So, I was 2-10 overall :crybaby: ]

    Points
    Columbia Timbers GU14 Red [7]
    Emerald City F95 Green [5]
    LOSC Extreme [5]
    Oregon Rush U14 G Nike [5]
Placer United Prestige 96 Gold [5]
    ESUFC Arsenal [4]
    EMFC 95 Magic [4]
    SSC 95 Hotspur [3]
    THUSC Sodium [1]
    FC Portland Platinum [1]

    Predictions for Day 3
FC Portland Platinum vs Placer United Prestige 96 Gold [Placer] - Placer only had one game yesterday which means they will be fresh, and tied the Rush who beat FC.
ESUFC Arsenal vs THUSC Sodium [Tie] - THUSC's 12 players are beaten up both physically and mentally. Could go either way. ESUFC is playing well.
Oregon Rush U14 G Nike vs Emerald City F95 Green [Tie] - This could turn out to be the best game of the day. Both teams are evenly matched.
Columbia Timbers GU14 Red vs LOSC Extreme [LOSC] - Timbers are coming off a very physical game with THUSC late yesterday. Don't think they will be able to hang with the big physical Extreme squad.

My very poor track record could use a little boost today!

Best of luck to all and see you on the field!

    Cheers!:D

Thanks SD. They really took a beating and played the last game with only 11. I will say, they showed heart and character and walked off the field with a victory against a very improved ESUFC team.
Really good tournament this year at the new venue. The smaller fields really added a new twist for teams that play a 'spread out' type of game.
[I will update the results as soon as the tournament website has been updated]

        Can't wait till next year!

        Cheers! :)

I must admit my favorite game to watch from the sodium girls was against the Timbers. Even though they were scored on (my opinion from an offsides position) they ramped it up even more. They fought 150% to get back that goal. In the extreme heat, 12 players who were even playing injured, and IMO the most physical game of the weekend, the girls never gave up to the bitter end.
          I call for a rematch!

BTW, all I have to say about LOSC girls is WOW! Talent, talent, talent on that team!
Even though they lost 1 - 0 against Placer, game doesn't explain the heart that was put in that final.

Great job to ALL the teams! Great ran tourney IMO, keep up the good job LOSC!

Thanks for the kind words. It was a rough weekend in preparation for US Club Nationals.
I couldn't agree more about the team and the tournament. Great team, great tournament!

And best of luck next weekend to all OR & WA teams heading to Virginia Beach!

            Cheers! :)

Being a new parent on the Eastside team, it is great to hear you thought they were much improved! I had seen them play and was pretty impressed. I thought they had a chance to be very good. But you never know until you see them play against the best.

I was really pleased at how they stacked up against all the great teams that were in this tournament. Can't wait to get through qualifiers (hopefully) and play against all these great teams in the league season!

Pinch me, I must be dreaming!! LOL! Welcome U14 fans one and all! [or even just one more would be great!]

Anyway, put my pom poms down. Yes, the Eastside team is very much improved. I do a little "unofficial" scouting because I have good friends who's DD's play for different teams. I love to watch good soccer so I will go see the teams like Keizer, Hotspur, Arsenal, LOSC or any possible gold team play and then get together with these guys over a couple burgers and let them know who is playing well and who isn't. Who's teams ODP players are standouts and what players we may need to 'recruit' in the off season. Makes for some good fun! We are going to be traveling a bunch so it was good to get a look at all the local teams in one tournament.

                  Have a great week!

                  Cheers! :)

                    Long Time ESUFC Arsenal Parent

We have been with Arsenal since U11 and admittingly there have been some major disappointment along the way. I think the heavy hitters may be surprised this year especially if they have written us off! There have been some consistently great players combined with consistently huge holes on the field for years. This parent is hoping this is the year that it begins to come together. Beware because there is some new talent and some old talent energized. We are coming to play the best and look forward to Sodium, Extreme and Oregon Rush. My prediction is that if we don't win it will be close and hard fought and that is what makes a great soccer game. Let the fall games begin!!

BTW Congrats to Sodium for being invited to a National tournament!!
