    UPDX to Elite Academy League

I heard that the top updx teams in fall are joining the EAL. Looks like mostly California teams thus far. Any rumors about other local teams joining?

Gunners from Washington got in per their social media. Their post said Pacific Northwest Conference so I imagine there are a lot of Washington/Oregon teams. Good alternative to ECNL Boys.

The world needs another travel soccer league like a fish needs a bicycle.

But I could see UPDX being at the front of the line of this scammaramma. Especially if BECNL isn't interested in coming to Oregon.

Still the issue, for boys, of the different high school seasons in OR and WA (which is WHY I expect BECNL is not interested in Oregon; not enough clubs down here to make a separate league, and too hard to combine with WA).

But there are suckers born every minute...

Correct, EAL is boys only. I’m surprised they haven’t gotten GA but I don’t even know if they applied. Don’t think they are close to ECNL. DPL is trying to push into the Northwest and basically become the GA feeder league so maybe that?

Yes, agreed...I assume they are trying something. I heard a rumor that they were trying for the GAL but didn't make it, which is surprising seeing Eugene and Bridge City both made it in. At the 08 age group at least UPDX is a stronger team...not sure about all age groups.

Applied for GAL and denied. Should tell you something if Bridge City (with NO elite teams) was accepted over them.

Elite Academy League is a joke. More division, more separation, more dilution. UPDX trying to re-invent the wheel. Arrogance can be blinding.

MLS Next, Boys ECNL, Elite Acadmey League, National League, OYSA League. I'm sure we could add a few more leagues. Soon EVERY club in Oregon can be the best Oregon team in their own league!

Travel looks to be Boise, Seattle, and Eastern WA for NW conference. Wouldn't be surprised to hear that a couple other clubs from OR will be jumping into this joke of a league.

Yes, I was thinking the same. In terms of GAL I would think with WA Timbers joining as well that Salmon Creek is considering so they don't lose all their players. If United PDX was blocked from GAL there is no way they are ECNL ready so the only other option outside of OYSA is likely PSL? Will be interesting, looks like a lot of shakeup for the Fall as teams are trying to keep their players.

It's interesting how people are always saying that competing in OYSA and playing the same teams every year is great for player development and putting down useless travel. Now everyone seems to be looking for the alternative.

                        Escape the Thunder Dome

Why teams leave OYSA? Simple, they are afraid of loosing to local teams. If you loose to Boise or Seattle is just sounds better, but loose to a local club, then you are not special.

The BECNL in Seattle is just the same old WYSA teams. The girls ECNL (now more then ever with the recent expansion) same old teams.

Your not special, just a coward if you are not playing in the OYSA Thunder Dome. Good example the boys teams that just came back from the little DA.

You mean the teams that came back to oysa and dominated in terms of wins across multiple age groups? I love the “little DA” dig you just have to slip in there

Today’s 3rd grade grammar lesson will focus on the correct use of the words “loose” and “lose.” Lol.
