Good to see there is an 01 girls parent still lurking. Must be the same parent who reminds everyone that FC Portland Girls ECNL 01 team finished in 4th place in OYSA Premier.

What everyone needs to understand is that DOCs and coaches at all clubs are constantly selling why their club and whatever league their club plays is the best for your DD’s development. There is a profit motive in for them. The entire structure is a racket. Anyone who can say with a straight face that playing local soccer is best for development and that there isn’t better competition outside Oregon is a liar or massively ignorant.

Complaints about the cost are valid. However costs are not club costs. The high cost is due to travel and these costs are equivalent to other travel sports like lacrosse, softball, competitive gymnastics, and so on. Travel is expensive. Any DOC or coach who associates those costs with club profit is lying.

DOCs and most coaches are little more than used car salesman. They will say whatever it takes to get your DD in their club because each +1 kid = more $$.
