If the economy collapses, I think we can always rebuild? Could we just keep unemployment insurance pumping.
The economy is on its last legs. Once you get past a certain point it will be done.

It is offensive that people care more about money than lives of our elderly and immune compromised. Of the people that have gotten covid, .0003 of them have died. That seems tiny but it’s mostly elderly and the weak. How can you put money before all those lives that could be lost? We need to defend them.

I had too many edibles last night and my cat spilled the beans. He also gave me the recipe for Coca Cola.

With the information that came out today about schools I think we all need to accept that high school soccer isn't happening this fall.

Never thought it would. Club might still go - but school sports aren't happening.

Lol. Being dumb is not an "opinion". People who don't understand the dynamics of this pandemic are literally putting our society at risk. They're dumb on purpose.

The inevitable pathway is a full lock down for 3-5 years and permanent mask requirements.

The economy is secondary to saving elderly lives.

What is dumb is think that you will ever go to the movies or grocery store again without a mask.

No, there will not be a 3-5 year lockdown.

The economy won't return until we get the virus under control. To say you have to choose between the economy and old people is a false choice. We can reduce the effects of the pandemic through good public health policy.

If we can get a vaccine or therapeutics, we'll very likely see masks return to personal preference.

Please, everyone, don't be dumb on purpose.

Looking at Taiwan as a model, the country never locked down but have only had 467 cases and 7 deaths in total out of a population of 23.3 million (compare to Oregon's 4.2 million). Their citizens are probably better at social distancing and wearing masks. 3-5 years of full lock down is probably not required, unless you assume we are idiots.

The best way to get the economy going again to stop the spread as soon has possible. If you really want get the economy going, voluntarily self-quarantine as much as possible.

I hope masks will be required for all food preparers/handlers even after coronavirus has waned. I prefer my food droplet free. Why would any frontline worker want to be exposed to droplets from so many customers?

High school soccer is probably close to last on any list of things we should worry about.

Don't worry about the economy. If we keep going at the rate we are now, retail and restaurants will be gone. Amazon. Walmart and McDonalds will survive and grow bigger and stronger.

Once all the stimulus money runs it's course, we could be looking at a near economic collapse or depression.

The lives lost to stress, depression, bankruptcies, evictions, and lost jobs will make this virus look like an ant in the middle of a walmart parking lot.

Go blown your head off now and do us all a favor.

We can get tit under control and get most business mostly open if every one starts doing the right things, not just some people. Wear masks. Don't go to parties. Stay outside to socialize with very small groups. Skip church even if it is open. Get cases under control and the economy can start to recover. Keep going to bars without masks and no, this will continue for many months

This is sad. We have to chose between our economy and our beloved grandmothers. How is that fair?

Where does fairness come into play?

Few things in this life involve fairness.

Might as well just attribute it to god.

Yes. God wants you to stay home and wear a mask. So get used to it. We are in this for the long haul.

It could be years for a reasonable expectation to be able to restart things.
