OYSA and clubs can’t start up again until the state is taken off stay at home and social distancing rules. In Oregon, schools are closed for rest of the year. That means the earliest opening up will be the middle of June.
Many colleges across the nation have cancelled all summer on campus classes and activities. That means soccer might not come back til fall.
There is a worry that fall high school and NCAA sports might be cancelled or delayed due to wave 2. No one knows yet but we need to be prepared to not have youth soccer return until 2021.
Personally hoping for an August restart but fear 2021 spring is more realistic.
I'm wondering if we'll have NCAA football in the fall...
It’s looking more and more like NCAA football will be pushed back to starting in 2021. Not ideal but better than nothing! Football is the huge money maker.

They will have NCAA football, probably no fans, but they will play it this year. Just as all pro sports will come back this summer, probably no fans for those either, but they will come back this year. Some states will be opening back up in a couple weeks. This is good news and hopefully Oregon will follow these states and get back to business.
Hopefully soccer starts back up in June, I think we should be fine by then to resume normal activity. Tournaments may be canceled, but they should have trainings where they can still keep parents off the fields if needed and only have the athletes and coaches. The players need to get back to a somewhat normal schedule.
Tryouts wont be till after schools are offically out for summer, so sometime in june or july at the earliest.
OYSA sent a letter out a few weeks ago saying they would let clubs start to form teams at the beginning of May. To the normal person that seems crazy and doesn't make any sense, since you can't have a tryout. Apparently though its because a few big clubs need the money and need to start collecting it in May.
Looking at the various discussions - why do clubs even do tryouts anymore? The big one have pools, so they take everyone who tries out in most cases (in a few situations, that might have been different on the boys side when clubs simply didn't have field space to accommodate all the teams); the little ones either take whoever they can get or have their team figured out long before tryouts.
Interesting - clubs are approaching this differently.
Looks like pacnw is also doing registration fee for both existing and new families, due by first part of may; without tryout date known. UPDX and Crossfire something similar, although it looks like only for existing families.
Pcu is requesting families register now for tryouts to help to continue supporting coaches. Westside is waiving registration fees if done by april 30.

State of Washington is working together to be unified on their decisions. They are ALL doing tryouts and placements over the phone. Player registrations are the same for all clubs. UPDX just doesn't like to play with others. Right or wrong, they are doint their own thing and whatever best benefits them

Can't help taking shots can you. . . given what you wrote it is pretty self-evident what club you are at. Don't get the hostility, but it is what it is.
This is getting confusing. Clubs are still posting dates and allowing for registration for try outs in early May. Are they actually going to have them or is the new idea to just roster everyone by phone?

No. Not every club is "rostering by phone" aka reserve your child's spot on a team.
