Is it really the coaching, which is A license level (whatever that counts for) or is it just that they aren't able to compete with ECNL for the top talent and there's just not enough top talent in this state to go around.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostMostly timing as far as gda goes. US Soccer created Boys DA years ago but left the girls out. ECNL came along with a national league geared towards getting girls committed to college. 99.99% of top club girls are in this pool. Boys DA and girls ECNL were doing great. Particularly ECNL. Much easier to do well when you’re looking to fill college soccer spots - of which there are thousands on the girls side. Trying to find and develop boys for the national team rosters means there are spots for only a few. Hard for GDA to break into the scene and attract top talent when most of that top talent was already happily in ECNL. If GDA has started back when BDA started, it would be a different story. Add to that the hs ban and no life besides soccer and GDA keeps losing ground with Oregon girls. Also, no, Oregon isn’t CA and doesn’t have enough talent to field elite teams at every age group in ecnl and GDA but it is nice to have both leagues here and it allows for more players to have the chance to develop further. Added bonus is getting to play out of state teams and having a little variety.
USYS and US CLub kiddo leagues keep the girls playing in HS and since HS is a the top shelf for most girls why give it up? there is no chance on planet earth they would ever make the USWNT or even their grandparents country of birth's national team. Playing recreational soccer(hs) is important to girls. As it should be and forever will be.

Funny
Funny how the Timbers Academy (boys) turned into a Thorns Academy (girls) thread.
You really don't hear much the Timbers Academy anymore, except from those moms whoes sons are just getting ready to enter that age group.
Why is it that girls are all bat #$#! crazy about soccer. It is all recreational soccer, OYSA, ECNL, GDA. Take it one step further college soccer is recreational, boy and girls.
This all just looks like spoiled little girls wanting to get their way.
