    Indoor Soccer

Indoor Soccer season is in full swing and just wondering how everyone is doing. Why doesn't OYSA run a league? Seems to be very popular with boys, not so much girls.

Why would you want a single inept organization running all leagues?

      Indoor soccer teaches bad habits.

Indoor soccer is for little kids and adults. It’s a dying activity

Indoor soccer is fun, but it's a different game. As preparation/practice for outdoor soccer, futsal is probably better than hockey-with-a-soccer-ball. As a game on its own merits, indoor soccer is fine, and if you like playing it, more power to you!

It's actually growing and popular with adults, all of the areas Indoor Centers are filled to capacity with waiting lists for teams to get in, the supply of 12 indoor fields is quite robust and the demand to play is greater than the supply of fields. Kids teams also fill the arenas through the weekdays and weekends. If that indicates it's dying as an activity you need your head examined. More adults play indoor soccer than ever before. What bad habits are you referring too, exercise, teamwork, social gathering, friendships and enjoyment.

          Recreational fun is not dying.

Yup, these places are booked with year round adult leagues the one downtown can't even field youth teams due to the overflow of adult leagues, monday to sunday..+ the have tiny toddler classes that go all year. Most adults prefer playing indoors year round.

Who says anyone wants them. Just wondering why they don't. League = money. Sherwood and Tualatin have teams from every club in the region. Hundreds of teams, thousands of players.

Only issue is the lack of organization and ability to get equal leagues and games. Sometimes you end up in a league with some people that are literally just there for fun and you might not get a competitive games.

Indoor doesn't teach anything bad....it's a different and unique game. It's like saying playing basketball hurts your soccer game.

This is a joke. Ignorant coaches will say the same thing about futsal.

You just described nearly all levels of HS Soccer in Oregon + the collegiate realities across the.nation in the outdoor activity. This is called the current operating norm. If soccer appealed to a broader audience of USA participants then these realities could be possibly mitigated. For the time being it is, what it is, my friend.

Some of the most Ignorant sideline observers (aka coaches) haven't realized playing Futsal can help you get better at Futsal and actually worse at outdoor & indoor soccer.

Here is an outcome of playing futsal related to outdoor and indoor soccer:

Specifically the issue with the weighted ball. Far too often I feel as if the heavier ball lends better touches to poorer technique. It masks bad first touches and mitigates their detriment on the game.

What happens to the same player who returns to playing the outdoor game in the spring and can’t keep hold of the ball when they receive it?

                            The more you know

Typically these type end up playing full time with the Futsal facility teams and become the heart of the game. LOL.
