Lots of ODP promotional emails from Timbers and OYSA lately with ODP tryouts approaching. What is the value of this program? Can anyone comment on their most recent ODP experiences and would you do it for this upcoming year?

It's definitely worth it. If your team isn't progressing as you like, ODP is a great place to identify players at other clubs that you can poach.
Oh, did you mean "is it worth it for the kids?"

GDA & ECNL players don’t do ODP. Most of the better oysa players don’t do ODP anymore. My kids had fun up until high school. Then everyone dropped out. Don’t know if the younger ages are good still.

I think it will get better again now that the top kids from the little DA can participate.
Sadly this means the mediocre kids that participated recently might not have spots

ODP is a dinosaur program coached by dinosaur coaches.
Basically if your club coach coaches one of the age groups you are guaranteed a spot.
Look no further than Brandon McNeil offering spots on Region IV teams if those kids were to come to his club. It’s riddled with demons.

06 ODP girls program was highly disappointing last year, many girls dropped the program mid stream. For the remaining players, evaluations were not given to the players at the end of the program as stated they would be when the program began. If you have money to invest in additional training, put it towards some other form of training else where. I do not recommend ODP.

DA or GDA Timbers/Thorns selections are not allowed to do ODP per US Soccer.
No kiddo league USYS, AYSO or US Club Soccer has any restriction not allowing member clubs or teams to participate in ODP.
Basically, club girls aren't interested in doing ODP in Oregon and yes having the DA level players not allowed to play weakens an already weak sauce state like Oregon. Spot on.
