Destined to think small?!

Don't know RH, but it sounds like THUSC is having an internal debate over the kind of club it wants to be--one that focuses on community service and providing opportunities for kids of all opportunities, or one that spends a lot of energy trying to win tournaments? If RH is interested in the latter--the whole CU enterprise certainly is geared towards that--and the board, perhaps still stung from the damage TA did during his tenure is interested in the former, I can see why a divorce occurred.

How does this affect CU, anyway? How many of their players came out of THUSC (vs Crossfire or other clubs)? If RH has convinced a few teams to leave and join her at the new club--which ones?

Coaching drama is so much fun... and so many coaches confuse skill at recruiting (or working for a club whose name does the recruiting for them) with skill at teaching, and come to think they are the indispensable element in their club's successes, not the kids, parents, or community, or all the folks who came before.

So you can only be one type of program? So many people come on this site and complain about how OR can’t compete out of state and there needs to be consolidation of talent from multiple clubs to pull this off. Tom led the charge to help set up CU under THUSC to accomplish this very goal, but his ego kept him from embracing or acknowledging there was talent beyond THUSC. On top of this no one wanted to work with him either so he was a road block to CU’s success. With him gone it’s thrived. For whatever reason it would appear that RH was threatened by this success instead of motivated by it. All these clubs/coaches are so busy protecting their own little personal agendas we can’t accomplish anything bigger!

Considering not many CU or FC ECNL teams played in it, your argument does not follow your premise ... but way to take a shot anyway at those two clubs for trying to start a tournament that isn't the PCU Summer Classic or Mt. Hood Challenge ...

CU says their Ecnl teams are elite and no teams actually end up being elite when playing a few of the elite.

The tournament is a reflection of their propaganda and club.

Just go on knocking each other! Try to start a new club trying to attract "elite" girls and young women. Try to start a Portland tournament to attract "elite" girls clubs. Rip each other to shreds along the way.

I am not dumb. I do dumb things occasionally, like get on this message board. But that's more of my morbid fascination with soccer parents trying to knock everything down to justify their own choices.
