That’s depressing. But considering the thorns is getting a lot of B teamers they might be doing better than expected. What’s the point though.

Conversely you would never witness the AJAX club of holland sign a local player to their Academy that couldn't play the game well enough to make the 1st team someday.

I admit it's truly unfair for the Timbers DA to attempt to make a 'pro' out of what comes from the daycare clubs in this area.

The Local clubs are concerned with their overhead and payroll of unemployed guys calling themselves 'paid' coaches. Creating great teams and players is not a calling card of any of this local lot. Jus gettin pd please.

This in not only unhealthy, it's truly sickening.

Here's an idea:

ODP... should be free. (For the kids). Paid for by Peregrine. If the objection is the local clubs aren't training players adequately (as opposed to there being insufficient talent for coaches to work with), then reducing the cost from $400 or whatever to $0 ought to be a no-brainer. If there are 250 kids in the program, that's $100k, or about the cost of a first-team centerback who can't play defense (https://www.oregonlive.com/timbers/2...evolution.html).

That way, Timbers coaches can get earlier looks at the talent pool, and start their training on the right foot if the local clubs are judged to not be good enough.

let's talk about the safety risk family and friends bring to the Timbers Academy. The Timbers have decided that all practices except the first Tuesday of the month will be closed sessions. So, some parents don't get to see their kids play soccer anymore. All in the name of safety. So, what is the extra safety measures are the Timbers taking on the first Tuesday of the month that will allow parents to watch and players still to be safe? None! This is a thinly veiled attempt to keep parents from seeing what is going on so they can not complain about what a piss poor job the coaches are doing.

Shame on the Timbers organization for allowing this. Absolutely ridiculous.

Keep drinking the koolaid and telling yourself all is well. I was speaking to the youth soccer community. Although, are you telling me the MLS team is looking good? Regardless of how they do, yes Providence Park is sold out. Will that continue if the team continues to be stagnant and the ownership continues to ignore the academy and development? Doubtful. But then again, you are a Timber's apologist and do not want to see the truth. No negativity towards the Timbers, they are my team as well. You should want more. Expect more. We all deserve more from the Timbers.
