Thats exactly why any club team can join, no requirements.

It really does not matter what requirements you put in place if you have weak coaches and no players.

It just means that you are now training 4 days a week with bad coaches and bad players.

        Correction:
CU and FC only train 2 to 3 x a week.

Yes they do, but you get the bad experience 4x a week if you play for the Thorns.

2x a week with local club is actually worse. Done both.

Oregon Clubs not being elite, never had the choice of leaving GDA. Girls in Oregon just love recreational High School Soccer. Which is consistent with level of play.

Some players are willing to give it up when it's superior (eg in BDA and you can play for an MLS club for free). Many GDA clubs are mediocre so why give up HS for that?

You don't give up anything to play in HS it's recreational fun absolutely, well said.

Just an FYI Oregon has only 1 DA program for each gender available MLS Timbers & NWSL Thorns and they do not intersect with any Oregon local clubs in the USYS or US Club league play or competition. Nor do the have anything to do with recreational HS Soccer.

With so few Oregonians ever selected to the HS ages of the MLS & NWSL Portland DA squads it makes sense that those not chosen or part of it can play with their HS program, of course and If they want more soccer than just a recreational HS season there are 'many' clubs to sign up with, some even offer extensive travel if you can afford it.

Seems like these DA programs really bother some of the local clubs. Why is that?

HS soccer is so much more than the soccer itself. That's why kids want to play it.

Because they ban high school the thorns don’t get the top players. That’s why they are dead last in u15/16/17.

Hopefully the kids are having fun if nothing else.

Winning isn’t everything. There is great value in losing and learning to accept losses.

Crossfire United launched their ECNL program with an effort to pull girls awat from High School Soccer, courtesy of Tom. This backfired on them greatly and they quickly let go of that dream. GDA is just refusing to learn from the lessons that ECNL already struggled with. The idea was present on both sides. It doesn't work on either side.
