How can the clubs reschedule the cancelled games when the OYSA schedule for the rest of the season isn’t even out yet? When is OYSA going to schedule all 10 games?

How can the full schedule not be posted yet? If only the managers and coaches have it, then it’s still tentative. Shouldn’t the full schedule have been posted a long time ago? If it’s true that all OYSA does is schedule the games and the refs, there is no excuse. It’s embarrassing. No wonder people switch to Academy & ECNL.

According to the email we got last week schedules are complete and were ready to be published Thursday morning. The league decided to hold off because they knew they’d probably cancel weekend games and things would change right after their release.

Thanks OYSA for running your league so poorly that parents don’t know what their schedule is past the next two weeks. Thanks for sharing the schedules with managers and telling them not to publicize them so we get emails from parents saying “my kid on another team has her March schedule why won’t you give us ours?” And extra thanks for dumping the task of rescheduling games onto already overworked coaches and (unpaid) managers so your staff can go on vacation.

This snow "crisis" and entire season in general has been handled so poorly. All you honks who were happy when OPL folded remember - this is what happens when an organization has a monopoly. They can do whatever the f**k they want and we - the consumers - have zero recourse.

The OPL was a train wreck from inception without any infrastructure or active leadership. DOC's aren't built to admin a league or cups. This was a structural issue that was never addressed and they folded shop and kept their day jobs.

OYSA is now serving 3 gods: 2 private business entities & their member clubs:
(1)Peregrine whom they must flow all league, cups & ODP/RTC revenue through then (2) flow more revenue to a consortium of warehouse futsal operators then (3), they try to serve their bottom feeding member clubs. It's truly a ...t show.

They must rely on the TImbers/Thorns or Peregrine org to administer their outdoor leagues, cups and ODP/RTC offerings. They elected to outsource their only core business functions and are left with a shell corp that is so desperate they are renting high dollar space at low use warehouses in the metro area in effort to subsidize private futsal facilities and claim it as their own OYSA product.

OYSA business practices are quite simply beyond comprehension and serve private business way before their members in this cluster.uck. of corruption and ignorance.

Break whatever nefarious contracts they have with Peregrine & the warehouse guys.

OYSA is a non-profit without any tangible assets and could you imagine the backlash from the liberal Portlandia folks if big bad Hank Paulson's kid tried to sue a 70K member non profit over the running of kiddie soccer leagues and Tourneys?

That would play well on local & national news, i would be a PR suicide mission for Peregrine.

Seriously what does the OYSA have to lose? Worst case they dissolve and a new USYS Oregon headquarters office is established without any strings to Peregrine or other money grubbers.

Start over and provide what the members want, which means you have to reach out to the clubs.

Maybe they (membership) doesn't want a centralized clearing house for club league play, maybe just sanctioning?

What is always forgotten by the clubs is they hold all the cards in this relationship. They have all the members and all the facilities.

Clubs may have cards, but the alliance + a couple others mostly acts in lockstep with Peregrine when push comes to shove. There are occasional exceptions, but every time their is reform efforts at OYSA you see clubs run for cover pretty quick.

The current setup is obscene, but maybe we got what we deserved.

The only logical answer is to spit in the cash envelop we send to Peregrine every season. I know I do. ( :

And yes, some families may have vacations planned.
