    Alliance Shrinking?

Huh, maybe this is old news, but is alliance losing its California outpost? https://northbayysl.com/about-us/history/

As of the 2018/2019 Season WNB Timbers will go by the name Athletic Club Marin "AC Marin", representing premier youth soccer in Marin County.
With this new logo and club name, AC Marin is excited to announce its international affiliation with one of the best pro player development Academies & pro player placement Agency in the world Genova International School of Soccer (GISS) & La Liga Club CD Leganes.

We will be offering our players an elite training program at the international level in Europe with top leagues & teams.
Our players will have access to train with a premier academy and its pro development staff as well as get to trial with the top clubs across Europe & USA. We want to take this opportunity to thank Morris Pagniello of GISS, Felipe Moreno of La Liga team CD Leganes & to Jos Recine of GISSPRO for putting it all together.

These associations and alliances are somewhat suspect in what value you get out of them. I know that some of the local TA club have discussed other associations because they don't get much of anything from their association with the TA. In the beginning, there was talk of coaching education and training plans coming from the pro organization. Hasn't really materialized in any significant manner. Crossfire and Surf are both brands that have been explored by some clubs.

NBT was an interesting case--they weren't really an official member of the Alliance, that dealt with the Timbers directly. Instead, they had (and at some levels, still do) a relationship with Westside--their local DOC reportedly did Taihuichi when younger and has a close relationship with Cony. But for a norcal club to brand themselves "Timbers" is strange; for them to brand themselves with a particular youth soccer club in Oregon--when Northern California has several dozen clubs that can field better teams than anything in Oregon--was outright bizarre.

Westside does a lot of work helping organizing youth soccer in remote parts of Oregon--they took over the BSC Hood River club when United PDX abandoned them, and help run youth soccer clubs in various parts of Eastern Oregon (there's one in Umatilla/Hermiston, and one in La Grande; none of which you will likely ever see in OYSA Premier). But Northern California doesn't need any help from Westside--if anything, the opposite. :)

UPDX still provides registration services (and some coaching support) for Hood River and Woodburn, but with the merger, club strategy is to keep focus on the City of Portland.

UPDX is plenty big and not here to conquer Oregon soccer; will leave that to the Timbers and the alliance. ( :

UPDX isn’t conquering anything and families are unhappy about unfulfilled promises of practice locations and extra long drives to practices.

My kids practice at the same fields they practiced at last year, except girls academy, which is closer to home most Friday nights than last-year's pre-ecnl.

In our own backyard established clubs with 40 years of history and strong reputations change their name to a Seattle based club 'Crossfire' this is beyond bizarre it's truly pathetic and embarrassing.

Didn’t the Crossfire coaches get free T-shirt’s and a free bag of balls and cones though?

I love how TA honk (or TA themselves) so quickly redirect the these threads. Focus people ... TA is the enemy.

Is there any value at all in being part of the Timbers alliance?

Timbers have much more cache than GPS & Crossfire nicknames, in Oregon.

I take that back. We do get free thorns tickets from tine to time.

                              That’s worth about $2 each.

In reflection, yeah we get jack squat.
