Then 10 players that made the Thorns at tryouts just got demoted and won’t play at all. Those players will leave to go elsewhere if they want to play soccer. The same pool of Oregon players just keeps shifting around a little every year. Ironically, the teams that are doing about the best are the ones that stayed mostly intact like ***c 02s. Ecnl, GDA & even OYSA all have good options if your player is good. Pick one and enjoy. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

There are some youth soccer clubs in the country that participate in the US Club Soccer (ecnl), geographically they were shut out for consideration into the DA platform. Some of these type of clubs that elected to play in either us club (ecnl) or usys often times have some very high level talent which makes sense. It's not really an issue in Oregon as we have the Timbers & Thorns DA + the added bonus of not many talented local club players who are considered DA ready or worthy. Oh well. Best of luck to our local clubs and the teams they created from tryouts. Since the MLS & NWSL DA's are funded the structure of kiddie local soccer of 'tryouts' is only one way to possibly make the Academy, most are scouted by US National team coaches and sent invitations to be part of the MLS or NWSL professional DA. But you already know that since you never got an invite.
