Just like Eastside TIMBERS, Rogue Valley TIMBERS, North Bay TIMBERS, Idaho Sting TIMBERS, and Capitol FC TIMBERS have nothing to do with the actual Portland Timbers, other than being youth soccer clubs in a nebulous alliance with the MLS Club, which includes (among other things) the clubs being sponsored by Adidas, the clubs calling themselves TIMBERS and incorporating the axe into their logos, and the general expectation that they will make the Timbers aware of top talent that might rise through their ranks.

That Eastside decided to call its girls teams Thorns, but otherwise had nothing to do with either the NWSL side or their youth academy, was obvious to all of us.

It's just some of the local ECNL trolls here that seemed to be confused. Or were trying to sow confusion, and now that it's obvious that the "Thorns Academy are moving to Eastside" rumor is bull, are pretending that any confusion on this point was the fault of Eastside.

When someone says Eastside is a good fit for the thorns that is intended as a put down. Eastside does not have a history of developing good female players and is out in a bad area of town.

It's meant to be confusing so Peregrine can wipe their hands of the whole rotten mess and blame Eastside / Westside going forward. Westside is doing the admin and Eastside is responsible for the coaching. Should be just about perfect for the Thornz Asylum.
