What's wrong with a large number of clubs sharing the wealth?

Would we prefer the structure of Washington State youth soccer, where the state association basically ensures that the local blue-chip clubs never face any competition from below? While it does produce a small number of regionally-competitive teams; a much stronger pyramid stinks for those not on the top.

Bigger picture and context the OYSA state cup has become the NIT of Oregon/SW Washington soccer due to the DA and a couple of neighborhood clubs opting to play in US Club.

Nothing wrong with large numbers of clubs sharing the burnt biscuit called the OYSA cup.

Not much to hoot about these days.
