The scam is easier to run on the girls side. As parents, we want to protect and advocate for our girls to ensure they get the same opportunity as the boys.

But the game is different. The men have 3-4 pro leagues here and countless others in other countries. The girls have D1!

And that is the scam. And it is an easy scam. Girls want D1, parents want what their kid wants and will pay handsomely, especially in the burbs.

So the girls game attracts coaches that have a nice accent but can’t really coach, but can sway parents to pay with false promises of D1 soccer.

We are all getting sweet talked by some English guy who said he was a pro (before injury) and can do some decent tricks with the ball.

There is a while group of British Coaches scamming parents. Listen for the accent.
D1 isn't for everyone either it's intense, your job is always on the line, there's little room for much of a life outside of your team and academics. If you want top D1 and to compete at the highest level, then find a program with great coaching that can help you achieve those goals. If you're aiming lower, or not even D1 but D3? You don't have to be in some uber league, traveling to NoCal to give another team a beat down. Play competitively (preferably with a team that does showcases), enjoy HS sports, hustle, get to some ID events.

        That is a great idea.

During the fall season and when most of their players are playing HS soccer, how would they field a team to play the DA games?

Don’t let the trolls get to you. It’s probably the same troll that keeps lying over & over about FC Portland’s record from 3 years ago. Makes sense for GDA to not have high school just like boys DA. Trolls like stirring the pot.

That's really deep man. Did you make that up yourself or did you have someone help you?

It is if you don’t have skills and are slow.

First sign of a Red Queen is to deflect and distract. Typically, a Red Queen will insult instead of looking inward to address his/her real underlying emotional response of fear. Yes. You are a Red Queen.

This might be the dumbest thread in here but you just made everyone reading dumber. Congratulations in reaching new levels of dumbness.

Seems like GDA will end up being quite a bit more than $2,950 for some players now that Showcase travel is excluded from fees. Each event must be about $1500 with airfare to east coast and 5-6 nights in hotel. The only travel covered is league play to WA, UT and CA. All other travel requires a TBD Supplemental fee. Won’t this make ECNL and GDA about equal on cost?

Poster from another state with a dead board. GDA has only about $1800 or so less than ECNL was. That comes from somewhat lower club fees and free uniforms. Travel is worse for us because now we have to fly to all showcases; we can't drive to one we used to be able to drive to. No club in our area and as far as I know our region pays for any travel costs. Our region has 3 good clubs, two ok and the rest garbage. We've traveled an absurd amount for a weekend to have blowout games. One good club is out and the ok one may be too (rumors). Our family is out - the training at our club isn't any better than the ECNL club, competition too variable, my kid is recruited and misses high school. We hoped for much better and it didn't deliver.

Anyway, what may be true in one area isn't true for all. There have been some really good clubs drop out in other regions. Even if things stay solid in this area or California, do you all want to fly to FL or wherever to play weaker competition at national events? The landscape is a hot mess and I'm glad this is my last player in it.

More actually as US Soccer requires GDA teams to stay in swanky hotels that give HUGE kickbacks to the US Soocer brass. And, of course, the players can only eat at expensive health food restaurants that cost $200 per meal. And the parents have to pay for all dozen coaches / trainers / hangers on to travel too. It adds up in a hurry.

No. They stated players had to pay airfare only on showcase travel which is $300/player round trip. So if the player goes to all three showcases it’s an added $900 making grand total $3,850.
Still less then half the price of ECNL.
