But let me assure you many boys would like to be able to play HS soccer. It's a very tough choice for many. They're only kids once and only a small fraction will be top D1 players and a fraction of a fraction professional or NT players.
Boys who went to the DA not only gave up HS they gave up a National Championship USYS platform that makes the girls US Club offering of today look like chopped liver for the rich folks.
US Club is grasping at any reason to shoot holes in the DA since it's ripping to shreds their insane combine/showcasing platform designed to make life easier for lazy college coaches as it was and continues to produce rotten tomatoes for the youth women's national teams.

You’re right. Mallory Pugh and Rose Lavelle suck.

All of the top clubs in the US have passed on GDA. It B teams.

It’s nice to see Thorns blazing the GDA trail. Paid tryouts, waivers for HS play, and free travel. WTG GDA!

$3,150.00 is pretty expensive. Giving up high school experience is bad. Traveling to play bad teams is a waste.

Politics, agendas and greed have ruined the game here- boys and girls. What was once a passion driven fringe sport has tried to become mainstream and the sticky fingered crooks have figured out a way to monetize the setup so it no longer is about development and you diochit parents are dumb enough to follow blindly. Ask questions, demand better from your current club and get off your ass and get involved if you truly want to impact and change the current state of affairs for your children. Bitching on this message board is just perpetuating the problem....

                  Bravo!

The scam is easier to run on the girls side. As parents, we want to protect and advocate for our girls to ensure they get the same opportunity as the boys.

But the game is different. The men have 3-4 pro leagues here and countless others in other countries. The girls have D1!

And that is the scam. And it is an easy scam. Girls want D1, parents want what their kid wants and will pay handsomely, especially in the burbs.

So the girls game attracts coaches that have a nice accent but can’t really coach, but can sway parents to pay with false promises of D1 soccer.

We are all getting sweet talked by some English guy who said he was a pro (before injury) and can do some decent tricks with the ball.

There is a while group of British Coaches scamming parents. Listen for the accent.

Should I just be watching out for English accents? Or should I be wary of other European accents too, like Spanish or Eastern European accents, and what about African accents? It might be easier for us to just agree to be wary of all foreign accents. Does it matter how they actually coach and interact with the players, or is that part of the scam too? I should think there are enough American born and bred coaches, without the silly little accents, to coach our children in this wonderful sport. And I bet they would probably do it for free, eliminating the pay to play model. Maybe they’d be living out of a car under a bridge, but that would be a small sacrifice given that they are coaching upper class kids the game of soccer, and listening and learning from those kids upper class parents musings on the game.

John Bain has a British (Scottish specifically) accent, and he's a fine coach.

Don't assume anything, really, about a coach's accent or nationality, especially at the youth levels. Plenty of good American coaches, and plenty of morons from established footballing countries. And the reverse as well.

The upper echelon of US Soccer could use some foreign advice, as there are too many retreads there who wouldn't know first class soccer if it nutmegged them. But for your local club coach, that's not an issue.

01/02 team missed a day of school and flew to Nor Cal to play a team today that has been outscored this season 145-10. Does anyone think this is helping the players develop? If so, please explain how.

Well, can I at least assume you don’t have a sense of humor, and wouldn’t recognize sarcasm if it nutmegged you

Their choice and living their own lives.

Check in with yourself and ask why you are so desperate to decide what's best for others instead of focusing on your own house.

Relax, I was agreeing with you. My post was mainly in response to the comment above, suggesting that anyone with a British accent was a fraud...

So you have reasonable explanation why this helps develop players. Thanks for clarifying.
