In full effect, hard to recover these days. Highlight the less than a handful of clubs leaving in hopes it gains some traction. Hilarious.
2.5 year article is best you got?

PDA, Stars, and Hawks are top clubs in the country. Can you explain yourself?

“We made the decision to drop out of the Development Academy because of the rules and the mandates," said PDA's Girls Executive Director of Coaching Mike O'Neill, who is also the head women's soccer coach at Rutgers. "We felt it was the right decision and in the best interest of our players, their development and their enjoyment in the game. We felt the day-to-day environment was being affected for player and people development."”

No good tournaments/cups and no high school. Both are a drag on having fun in the sport.

                Balance sheet 2017-18 & 2018-19 Combined:

Net gain for DA hovers at +65 to +70 clubs from US Club & US Club leagues.

US Club moves from -55 clubs(17/18) to -48 clubs (18/19).

Quite the scorecard, who came up with this illustration, it's awesome.

Let's keep it updated, like a wall street ticker.

Elite athletes don’t need to give up high school to get scholarships.

Most elite soccer players across the globe don't play in HS.

Americans Boys who give up HS for DA or MLS DA either go pro or get athletic scholarships. If these guys chose just HS and local club they have fewer choices for College than DA ilk.

American girls who cant make their HS varsity team over 4 years still have a great chance of a scholarship due to Title IX.

                    Crazy.

Most GDA clubs are also pay-to-play. Thorns just happens to subsidize for the older age group. I did not see very many top level poor minority girls playing for them though. It was some of the same white girls that have either played Thorns before DA or ECNL.

Not saying ECNL is better than DA. It is the same thing.

BTW, the last time I checked the US WNT is ranked #1 in the world. I have heard that everyone is catching up for the last 20 years, but every time I check the US is in the top 4. Even in the last World Cup, everyone was saying the US did not have a chance.

I also keep hearing about all the things USSF is doing on the men's side for the last 10 years, but they had better results 20 years ago.

What those numbers don't show is quality. There is none in the GDA and that's at least partly why it's failing so miserably. ECNL has been the #1 girls league for years and continues to get stronger and stronger, especially now that the weaker sisters opted for GDA and were replaced by stronger clubs from those same areas.

That’s probably why they are losing so many clubs and kids.

Most of the top clubs kept A teams out of GDA and now others leaving.
