I assume you mean "relegation", not "regulation".

Partially agree--no league should prevent its member teams from competing against anyone they like. If a league wishes to impose technical standards for competitions (no more than one match/day), that's fine, but some of the DA restrictions are out of line.

That said--how would pro/rel work at the youth level? Would it be on a per-club basis, or on a per-team basis? Would there be team continuity from one season to the next? What if a team loses a lot of its players? Or gains players from a (possibly higher-rated) team? How often would a team be able to move up or down, and if anually, would this be determined before tryouts or after?

OYSA kind of does pro/rel now; with teams being seeded into the various divisions based on a combination of factors--prior year's performance of the age group, performance in summer tournaments, club wishes, and an opportunity to move up/down between fall and spring. (Though it's not perfect--some teams try for Premier, find out that they aren't ready for that--but are barred from President's Cup because they do Premier in the fall).

Of course, the comments here aren't directed to the difference between OYSA Premier and D1 (let alone D2), but the next level up: OYSA premier vs ECNL/EPLN vs DA/GDA. And yes, it would be fun if e.g. WashT, GPS, CU, and Thorns all had to play each other.

But doing this would require MORE arm-twisting from US Soccer; of the sort often resisted by existing youth clubs/leagues.

Should USSF be funding clubs, teams, or players?

FC Portland has much less players than Xfire United. Who picks the girls?

Some decline...not saying this happened though. Now if you are out of state, it would be more likely.

Hard to pass up on a pair of shorts and two shirts for free.

Kind of interesting how this use to be at the Nike campus, then the University of Portland, and now back to Liberty High School. Will it be indoor next year?
