Most Volatile Times In US Soccer History

It is cray, cray out there bro, and it isn't just Oregon:

I’ve covered the beautiful game for a few decades and never, never have I seen such a more volatile offseason in U.S. Soccer or U.S. soccer.

"It’s been one major headline or controversial scenario after another, whether it was a national bombshell — the U.S. national team failing to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in eons — or on the local end — the Boston Breakers folding only months before its season kickoff."

USA sports should look at the models they are runing and ask themselves if they units they are working with are working for all of the athletes they are chartered to represent. Seems to me the old ODP system at the younger ages did a better job of development and identification. What they have now satisfies power Doc's and friends....JMHO

The change to birth year for everyone has also really messed up all the non-national team level players that have college as the end goal. Outside the likes of GDA/ODP/id2, the vast majority of college hopeful players would best be served by playing with their graduation year. A switch to graduation year instead of a switch to birth year would have been the much better change. It is one of the big draws of the fast growing lacrosse. It would increase the numbers of kids joining and staying in club soccer, increase the chances kids have classmates & friends on their club teams, make recruiting much easier for colleges, and widen the net for finding elite players to be funneled into the birth year elite teams.

Looks like OYSA is getting the full court press to support Carter, from Paulson/GW, etc.

Prediction - if OYSA votes for Carter, watch US Club come back to Oregon in a big way.

It is a secret ballot. OYSA will vote for whomever Timbers tell them to, which is Carter so MP can make more money and keep control.

OYSA will never divulge who they vote for.

Some states are asking their members for feedback . . .

I think it is debatable if the old ODP system did much with development. Identification ;probably but development?

                  Just splitting hairs here but:
Also US soccer federation was not directly involved in the "old ODP" that is a USYS Program. US soccer federation personnel used to show up and scout typically at regional showcase and there were crossovers that an official USSF person may have had a second role within USYS ODP. There are multiple other ODP programs; NTC, ID2, PDP, and Super Y ODP. Each of these like USYS ODP are USSF "sanctioned" ODP programs.

                      13 million deficit!

Adults and youth pushing for reduction in player fees . . . . some context, in 2000 fed ran out of money; to stay afloat they needed a loan from youth and adult, ended up raising player fees.

Are you talking about US Soccer Federation? With over $ 100 million surplus.

Sitting on 100 million; however, projecting material deficit for next year.

                              Carlos wins.

MLS didn't get their first choice. Reformers didn't a reformer.
