GDA is for the serious soccer player who is ready to shift from playing for fun to the serious job of just getting better. Having fun is a distraction and not in the technical framework.

Pro track could get you a nice four figure annual salary.

Thorns is a professional track and yes you might get paid a handsome salary. The Oregonian ran a nice story about pro women players holding down 2nd and 3rd jobs to help cover rent and food which is a helpful guide.

Very little risk for da to ask you to give up other sports. If you get hurt they just replace you with someone from one of the 4H teams.

For girls especially, specialization is not good for injury prevention.

Multiple sports can help prevent certain injuries.

Basketball + soccer at same time = highest incidence of concussions, blown out knees, burn out & bad grades with few APs.

One of the reasons GDA will flounder. Not enough players interested in a pro track. At least on the men's side there is a proper league with decent salaries plus international opportunities if you're good enough

I think I heard on an XM radio show (coaches corner) that the average salary for NWSL non superstar names is 47k a year.

Also the first time I heard that all MLS teams are owned by MLS and the local “owners” are granted operational rights over their club. But MLS owns them.

This thread is funny. As if every DA player wants to play basketball? 1 out of 20 care less. They knew when they accepted this was a year round program and a very special opportunity.

20 players on a squad $800 team reg fee ball park= $40 per person.

That $40 bucks couldn't get a family into the movies to see a show.

Price of popcorn is insane compared to a team reg fee per person.

That club wasn't on my radar with payroll,,whoa. I only knew of a couple other clubs with this inflated situation. Thanks for the knowledge.
